Best views trails in Santa Ynez, California

Starting off easy, this trail steadily increases in difficulty until the final mile directly up the side of the mountain to the peak. It is not the highest mountain in the area, but still has commanding views over most the surrounding area. A permit is required. (See contact information.)Show more

This is a wonderful, diverse trail recommended for anybody who wants a 2-hour outing. It's perfect for running with lots of gradual ups and downs. There are both sunny or shady sections depending on where you are on the mountain.Show more

Accessibility: This trail is paved with asphalt and is estimated to be 3 to 9 feet wide. There are two very steep sections estimated over 12% in the first mile but past that (on the western half), the grade is gentler. These have been marked with waypoints as wheelchair/mobility equipment or stroller users may need to avoid them for safety. There is another parking lot by waypoint number 1 which may be a better place to park at to skip these very steep sections. There are 6 designated handicapped-accessible parking spots at the parking lot by waypoint 1 with access aisles.Show more
