Great! Our 3 year-old did it without any problems

Great trail to run, not too rocky so it was easier to keep a good pace going. Would run again.

I don’t know why anyone would rate this any lower than 5 stars. Awesome hike! Beautiful trails and the waterfall is beautiful!

Shaded, good end view, reminiscent of Yosemite

I would recommend this trail. Nicely restored, nice oak trees, creek and views

We tried this trail with our almost 4 year old and a baby in a backpack as it is labeled as easy. While it would have been easy as solo hikers (short and not very difficult) It was fairly steep in parts with loose gravel that made it not a good choice for a family hike. Our little guy usually hikes reasonably well, even in steep trails, but the steep combined with his slipping feet didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend this with kids under 5 or kids who aren’t confident in their footing. Can’t speak to the views etc as spent the whole time dealing with a screaming child who normally “hikes” happily.

Great for a relatively short hike with or without dogs. Trail was in good condition. The beginning and end parts are the only bits that are shaded, so expect the rest of the trail to be warmer. Moderately trafficked - I passed maybe a couple dozen people on a midday Saturday hike in January.

Alltrails app started us from the top near Knapps castle. Hiked down steep trail to the bottom to the ranger station at the campground then back up. Came out to about 8.5 miles. Watch out for mountain bikers. They come up on you fast. Would do this trip again. In January it was 50% shadded 50% sunny but I could see this being hot in the summer. Fairly well maintained trail. Beautiful views. If I were going to do this hike again I would start from the bottom near sage hill campground off paradise road then hike up and back. Regardless, it was a great day and I recommend this hike to all.

Loved this short, well-maintained trail. Very scenic with panoramic views out over Santa Barbara and the ocean, and interesting rock formations. The loop section had no shade so would be very hot in summer.

Beautiful as always!

on Rattlesnake Canyon

It was a great and relatively flat hike, with a few creek crossings and mostly trails through the trees. We didn’t do the steep finish to the trail, so this was great for an easy but long enough hike.

Beautiful views all around. It was pretty strenuous. I’ll definitely be hiking here again.

Didn’t go to top was too steep. Lots of rocks to trip on . Pretty water

Great trail. Rigorous at some points, nice and shady in others.

I found this trail by accident and decided to give it a try. It was very challenging for me but I loved every minute of it. Highly recommend!

This is such a great hike! Just walking to the entrance is an incline and gets you in hiking mode! I love the paved half mile or so leading up to the trail head, the second half of the hike is rocky and challenging and suitable for those looking for a challenge but not so hard that it’s not fun. This is a very popular hiking spot and very busy trail so if you prefer a less traveled or quieter hike this is not for you! I was there a few days ago and quite a few of the hikers had loud music which I personally don’t appreciate but hey, to each their own. Challenging hike 2.5 miles up and back, awesome views and shaded spots along the way if you need to take a rest!

This was an emotional trail for me today as this is the loop I introduced to a special person in my life who died just before Christmas. There were no other hikers on the trial so for me that was therapeutic and lovely for today’s walk. I started at San Ysidro then took a left to get onto mcmenehey. Once at the bench, I then took Girard Trail up to the top fire road then back down to San Ysidro. The trail is easy and you can take in our beautiful coastline from south of Ventura to Gaviota along the way. The catwalk trail down that had been washed out in a couple of places has been reconstructed in case anyone is still wondering. All in all a beautiful trail with beautiful memories for me today.

The trail as marked in All Trails doesn’t follow the actual trail, so one either has to bushwhack along the All Trails trail, or follow the new trail. Gentle uphill in, with nice view of stream alongside much of the way. Scary to see impact of Montecito floods.

Nice trail. The view over Carpinteria is splendid. Moderate. The trail as of today January 2 was in good shape. Overgrown towards the second half but ok.

I loved this trail. It was a steady, not too difficult, and connected to other trails. Keep checking the map while you hike; there are many side trails that lead back to the main trail but some don’t. The water was beautiful and had nice shade. There’s a stunning meadow at the top that’s well worth the walk. Hiked with a dog

One I was my favorite hikes although I was just sent a link saying they had seen several mountain lions so keep your eyes peeled :-) https://keyt.com/news/santa-barbara-s-county/2019/12/20/two-mountain-lions-spotted-by-hiker-near-jesusita-trail/ This has great inclines, creek side meditation spots, overall a great hike. This can be a bit challenging so if you’re not in great shape take it easy and stop along the way for water. There are plenty of shaded spots to take a break, enjoy!

scramble

My favorite hike in Santa Barbara, mainly due to the amount of scrambling up boulders required. (Which makes it my wife’s least favorite hike in the area). I recommend using this app to help stay on the trail the first time cause there are no signs for it.
