Awesome hiking trail!

Great trail, wish it went to the top of Sugarloaf. So many bugs when the sun came out.

Heavily trafficked on the weekends, but fun little trail to hike. It’s worth it to take some of the bike paths, they give some great views. Also- horribly marked trails! Most junctions don’t have signs, and the ones that do are hidden or 20 feet off the trail!

Great afternoon on The Coaster! No snakes this trip, but cool Red-Tail Hawk? Breezy and misty in places. Not crowded and finally running most of the ridge. Awesome experience!

My father and I just did this on 5/18. We weren’t able to complete it as it started raining on us enough that we were worried the steeper parts would be extremely muddy and hard to get up. We did what we came to do though. We both carried packs, mine a med. ALICE and his his issued MOLLE-2 pack. We set up a little camp off the trail in some of the forested area; I put up a tarp and a hammock. The area is one of the best I’ve seen around here for bushcrafting, although sadly we can’t even have a campfire in the rain due to fire restrictions. I cooked some food halfway in on a butane stove. I love how wooded the parts near Chiquito Spring are. Lots of oak trees and some water in the stream. I’ll have to come back and explore the wooded areas off-trail. If needed you could definitely dig for water in the dry streams in the summer.

Don’t go the way I went, trail is in bad shape at the end single track!

We accessed this trail via comino las rambles . The parking is closed but trail is open so you just park on the street . Right when we got there and got past the Signage we saw a nice steep shortcut to the left-hand side so we climbed that and took a left at the top. . The upper area is plowed and very wide a bench to sit on and look at the ocean is up that way . Then we went up patriot hill and back down toward the entrance where we came from . It was a warm one and the steep climbs in the beginning wore my dogs out quickly it was a nice hike

Didn’t quite finish but used some of the bike trails as side paths. Nice views and flowers are blooming.

Fun hike up and down the hills! Be sure to bring plenty of water as there is no shade in the summer.

Good trail! The first part of the trail is purely uphill. So a good work out in the first 5 mins, but once you get past there, there’s a few steep hills. Just takes those easy and you should be able to reach the flag pole no problem! Also take some of the bike trails, they bring you a little off the path but the views are worth it. Don’t forget to open the mailbox once you reach the flag pole! It’s cool to write a little message to other hikers!

NO SHADE but fantastic workout and beautiful rolling hills covered in yellow mustard flowers. Awesome view of the ocean at the top. Roller coaster is an appropriate name for this hike.

So I’m just really getting into hiking and was a bit intimidated by this trail when we got there. However it was really great, and I enjoyed it!! There’s a few pretty steep hills, but if you’re in decent shape you won’t die. Lol! There is no shade, but once you get to the top and see the ocean view it’s all worth it. Wish I could post pics of all the wildflowers we saw. And I even got myself a bouquet of flowers that smell amazing.

Nice trail if it’s your neighborhood, otherwise not a great pleasure to hike along backyards of 3 different communities (60% of the route).

Nice in the spring when the flowers are blooming and everything is green. Rolling hills make for a good workout. Flag at the end has sweeping ocean views. Some dog and horse poop on the trail, so watch your step.

Great trail with some steep slopes. Amazing ocean views. Saw a rattlesnake on one of the more narrow trails, so watch your step.

My wife and I did this hike and found it very nice. We parked at the Arroyo Trabuco golf course at the end of Avery Parkway (going east). The trail is right there. We walked north along the trail, which tracks the creek. We found the area beautiful with lots of lush vegatation/plant life offering various shades of green mixed in with colorful wild flowers. You can both hear and see the creek in many areas along the way. We made the turn at the north end of the trail at a small park in a neighborhood a short distance from a giant power poll with a white fence along its southern edge. We saw a handful of other hikers/bikers each way. You do cross under Crown Valley Parkway in each direction, which some might find off-putting. We find a touch of civilization comforting on our hikes, reassuring us with an expected landmark. We'd do this one again and would recommend ti to others.

Pretty good trail. Trail is nice and wide which was nice because there are a lot of people on the trail. Lots of poop on the trail. Nice seeing the flag at the end. Beautiful views of the ocean.
