Great hike! Challenging in some parts but beautiful scenic views at beginning and middle points. Super green and foggy when we went up. Finished in under 2 hrs.

Great trail for a sunset hike. I would recommend completing this loop in a counter-clockwise direction to avoid a pretty steep climb out.

Started off from Eagle Rock parking to join the Penitencia but got lured by the steep climb towards south rim. Good workout and great conversation with J & M ( fellow hikers). Can’t wait to do another one on Thursday. About the trail- Perfect for a hot summer day as all shaded with great vistas from the top about 300 ft elevation.

Great trail. It is all paved with divided lines in the middle. There are lots trees and a lot of shade. I started from Hellyer Park and walked south. I enjoyed the view of the hills, the creek with a small water fall, and a couple of bridges. There is a moderate amount of traffic. Watch out for bicyclists and skate boarders so stay in the right side. I didn’t see any wild boars or tents. The best part are the restrooms on both ends of the trail. It took me an hour to walk from one end to another. Give yourself two hours to complete.

nice clean easy trail

Super windy today, but better in the trees. Saw lots of deer and birds, almost nobody else out except a few other mountain bikers. Along the lake is a fun ride, not too much extreme elevation

Great trail to ride. Planning ahead! Extremely limited parking with enforcement!! Weekends when the weather is nice I probably would not bother because of the parking. If you’re riding make sure to go to the left at the fork after the bridge.

This is a great trail to do in the mornings or on a really cool day. It’s definitely not an easy hike. It’s first half is downhill and the uphill the second half. Great workout with beautiful views!! Highly recommend.

It you want more of a walk rather than a full hike this trail is perfect for you. It’s paved, shaded and flat

Great views of the South Bay.

Great walking trail and great for a small dog. Flat with some wooded scenery that parallels residential area. Unlike many trails in the Bay Area Not to crowded on a weekend.

Great training hike as well as scenic! I’m not great with elevation gain and this had its steep sections but they were brief. Glad to have this beautiful hike on my radar.

As of today 12/28/2019 the ridge trail was closed at the mine trail/ ridge trail split. So we ended up doing the fortini trail instead.

Great dog friendly trail with beautiful views of the hills. Second half is tucked away from the views of San Jose and instead overlooks the back part of Santa Teresa Park. First half, if you start on the trail head that's on the left (from the parking lot) is a bit uphill.

Great hike and plenty to see. Lots of side trails as well to explore. Saw a few deer pretty close up and they hardly flinched.

The trail is closed

Nice and easy paved path. The entrance fee to park is $6 per vehicle and machine only seems to take a credit/debit card. The trail is nice with a good lake view. Not a lot of views in second half with running past lots of buildings. Great for dogs.

Trail is ok, parking fee of $6 is too expensive for a short hike. Trail seems to be great for biking though.

Super fun trail! Challenging. But not too difficult. I would recommend. Not much shade.

Very nice short after-work trail around sunset with Golden grass gleaming in the sun.
