a fav on a cool morn!

A Nice Hike to go to on even on a hot day. North Rim trail was closed so took the switchback trail to south rim trail. Wasn't too disappointed though. The switchback is a pretty good workout in itself. The park as such is a really good place to plan a group picnic. A lot of Picnic spots and tables with nets for some outdoor shuttle or some volleyball. Loads of trails and biking routes. Many alternatives to lengthen the trek. Definitely looking forward to coming again and doing another trail

Good tree cover. Fun hike!

Loved this trail! All the tree coverage made it a very pleasant hike on a hot day, and the scent of wildflowers and herbs along the way was intoxicating :) Can’t wait to go back!

The ascend was beautiful, shady and calm. Lovely hike for mornings. Park has two free parking lots and you get a spot if you are inside by 10.30am. You will have to walk a mile from the parking lot to reach the trail head.

A great walk on a warm day, lots of shade and plenty to see

People complaining about to this park, just a bunch of whiners. There's no resaon to post review as a 3 *** or 2 park. This is an AMAZING place to hang around with family and friends. Live to the fullest people!

Pleasant shady hike. Nice to be by the creek and then get some elevation after the switchbacks and see a great view of San Jose.

It’s a nice trail especially If you are not used to do a lot. It’s considered as moderate but l would say it’s an easy to light moderate trail. Great for families with kids who want to do more than just a walk. Nice view on the valley, 75% of the trail is under the trees canopy. You will love it during summertime .

Start from the Bay, and go South.
8 mile loop, very nice.
Pretty smooth except for crossing under the busy roads.

This is a stroller friendly stroll alongside a pretty shaded creek.

Beautiful place. Loved it

Terrible! Dirty with trash everywhere. Homeless camping everywhere with the associated mess and stench. In spots the trail flips from one side of the river to the other, necessitating crossing of busy streets. This trail should be used as a last resort only.

I love the park itself more than this one trail.

I’ve gone the whole way on this trail a couple of times. But plenty of times just within the San Jose area. The scenery is very nice. Plenty of shady areas to stop and rest that aren’t too far apart from each other. Trail mostly follows along the 101 freeway between Morgan Hill and San Jose. A couple of mildly difficult inclines but otherwise very manageable. Enjoyed many times within San Jose with my family.

Alum Rock park is one of my favorite it's the first park I started exploring on my own great to bring kids & family. It is considered A moderate hike,It offers free parking, water fountains, restrooms& playgrounds for children.Take the trail to eagle rock park where you can overlook San Jose & enjoy the sunset! For those who enjoy mountainbiking alum rock park is A great place to do that too! I always bring A new or returning friend & they love it

I'm used to mountain biking in Washington so maybe I'm a little biased, but I didn't love this as a mountain biking trail. Some great views at the top, but very little technical work required, mainly just brute leg strength. It was also a little too crowded to get any good speed up without someone being in your way. Not a bad ride, but also not great.

Real nice from Hellyer County Park and south. Do not go or park north of Hellyer park, as there are nothing but homeless camps, garbage, thugs, and people who look like they’re looking for trouble. A real sanitation nightmare, too. Think twice before bringing a family member who you care about in this section.

Good uphill climb, beautiful views!

Beautiful trail and managed well with a baby in the stroller and a toddler on foot. Also had my mom who uses a cane with me. Will be back!

surrounding area is super sketchy... felt uneasy leaving my car there so I didn't get to experience the full trail
