on Lands End Trail

Golden Gate Park is a great urban resource for hikers/bikers/joggers. The trail is flat nearly the entire way. Ignore an earlier review that said the park is on a hill. Golden Gate Park is most definitely NOT on a a hill. The western end of the park is nearly at sea level and the elevation change from end to end is only 262 ft. The park consists of approximately 1000 acres and is about 3 miles in length and a bit over 1/2 mile in width. The area was originally sand dues and was master planned and then planted into an arboretum type of setting. Very easy and very enjoyable hike.

A relaxing walk with gorgeous views of the city, and can bring your dog! Plenty of street parking near trailhead.

My favorite hike in the city. Head to the left if you’re more interested in hiking than dogs.

I love this place, the lake is down in a canyon, so the wind doesn’t affect you too much..
