A great urban hike. You'll forget you're in the city most of the way, it's very green and lush.

A super fun course. Gentle downhill much of the way and a great opportunity to see lots of different San Francisco neighborhoods.

Super easy walk on paved trail with spectacular views. The man-made island is sunken and the path is more or less a breakwater. Most buildings are in need of TLC but the vibe is relaxed, a throw-back to a previous era. Parking by MerSea restaurant is easy.

Gorgeous trail to look at houses you can’t afford to live in! Phone died halfway through so had to make my way back down to market. Will try full trail again another day.

Beautiful trail with architectural ruins, rock labyrinth, and beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge (esp. during the winter when it’s not foggy). Pretty easy with low elevation. Did it in Chelsea boots. Can get windy at certain parts.

Not much of a hike but the views were great. More of a walking trail. You have to visit Alcatraz when in SF.

So many dogs! Fun to walk along beach and in dunes as well. Can get very windy so layer up.

A really nice trail in the city, unfortunately partly closed, so had to invent some detours.

Great hike within the city - a short but pretty route, great for working up an appetite before lunch on a day off. Dog-friendly, but keep your buddy on leash, as there are cyclists on the trails that could easily spook them.

Loved this city walk. Perfect blend of flat and hills, and really neat staircases that connect the ‘trails.’ Perfect for a cool winter day.

Crowded, nice walk and views. Some trails not shown on the maps are not open to the public and they’re fun to explore.

Second half that takes to directly to the Sutro Tower got pretty muddy and slippery after the rain. The suggested trail was closed off for restoration. Take the mystery or fairy gates trail instead go get to twin peaks. Nice smell, nice greenery.

intense run with the incline through the forest but breaking through and getting the twin peaks view was amazing. a better run than hike.

Very popular. Beautiful but lots of people.

Pleasant, short, and varied walk. Partially paved and some incline. I’d say it’s great for kids, a leisurely walk, or jogging because it only takes 40 mins to stroll. It’s a bit tricky to stay on the trial, so expect to pick up your phone to stay in route. There are some beautiful views and lush wooded trials that go from super secluded to public when you pass by soccer fields, homes, and paved roads.

Great 1hr loop around the golf course for running or a flatter walk. It starts out on a narrow wooded path, but expect to also walk on the sidewalk, cross quiet streets, walk a wide unpaved service road, and hear the freeway for a few minutes. You’ll even pass Rob Hill Campground, which was fun to take a detour through. In many ways, the varied terrain keeps the walk interesting. You’ll need access to map to stay on course—it’s not clear for first timers. Not a heavily trafficked tourist hike.

If you have time, I suggest walking to the playground across the street from the golf club parking lot. The 5 min walk has some beautiful views of the presidio and there is additional free parking over there. If you wanted, you could add another 20-30 minutes by walking the loop.

Great walk. Somehow in hilly SF, there are a lot of flat nature hikes and walks. This one has more incline which is nice. I suggest walking there and back rather than walking the loop so you can enjoy the coastal breathtaking views instead of the road. We decided to not turnaround or take the loop and instead we kept walking to Baker Beach, then through the Presidio and finally into the Marina for lunch. It took about 2 hours 15 mins or 7 miles and my Fitbit recorded I burned 780 calories!

It was a blast and we were exhausted after, but I couldn’t believe all the fantastic views we had! After, we Lyfted back to our car, but we could have Scooted or Jump Biked because the ride was through the Presidio and neighborhood streets. Excellent trek!

Beautiful views of ocean and bridge and lots of fun landmarks to see. We did this hike as the loop, part of which is the road, and if we did it again, would stick to an out and back on the coastal trail- this is where the best views were and felt more like a hike (vs. a walk along the road). Detour to labyrinth/beach was worth the stairs!
