This is a long hike but it's a nice way to see much the waterfront. There will be many people in certain areas and a lot to notice.

Super easy, beautiful walk. The directions on the southeast end are wonky, but you can figure it out.

Awesome... I've walked all the embarcadero many times. I use to work some at pier 23 and later at pier 51. A pleasure to walk any of it.

Every time I drive to San Diego From Seattle I stop here. The rest area at the north end of the bridge is my preferred location to stop and take that wonderful walk.

For those with inquiring minds you can see a section of the massive steel vertical suspension ropes on the south side of the bridge, near the parking lot. You may miss it if it's foggy out.

SF is a great place to hang out for the day.

Loved this trail and added a trip across the bridge and back! Wind much better on the return. Be careful of the tourist that don’t realize they are walking in the bike path. Ps easy ride with a little hill on the way up to the bridge

Make sure it's a clear day and you'll get great views of the city; if the fog is in, don't bother. Have been on top during both conditions. On a nice day, it's basically a party on top. Enjoy the views, some good sitting areas, spray can art, and all kinds of fun. Take a picnic if you can find a parking spot.

trail running

It is for the paved road running, not trail running. The loop is a perfect distance to train for a half Marathon. It is relatively flat, so I can maintain a very steady pace. The trail has enough barrier/room from the roads next to it, so the passing traffic doesn’t bother me, and there isn’t much car exhaust smell at all. I love it for a running trail (I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much as a walking trail).

A bit too easy. Great views! Bring gloves for when you're at the peak and in cloud cover if your hands freeze like mine do.

Enjoyed the walk with my family! We went on a Friday and it was busy. Parking took a little time to find but well worth it!

One of a kind... Have to do this when visiting SF!

The park was so beautiful!

This is more of a historic walk than a hike.

life like half mile away, helped me lose 20lbs.

Nice walk around the lake. Crowded every now and then, but not too bad.

Beautiful park, but obviously very busy when the weather's nice.

World-class urban park. JFK a bit more scenic than MLK, but both provide reduced-traffic walking. Amazing achievement of City planning! Restrooms at Polo fields, Stow Lake boathouse, DeYoung museum, Cons. of Flowers, Sharon Meadow playground.

Good but can get plenty crowded on the weekend which is,when I did it.

Walked it about 9 p.m. A few of the restaurants and bars were still open, but most shops and other tourists had called it a night. I did see a couple of large rats that looked to have a nest under the sidewalk near the beach.

Nice view, nice weather

One of the best urban walks, period.

Not as barren as I was expecting. Is really lovely actually. Lots of space and parking. Much easier to take a reactive dog to.

I was able to find parking near 8th & Irving for this hike and noticed that there is 2 hour free parking Mon-Fri or unlimited free parking Saturday and Sunday. I would recommend doing this hike on the weekend if you drive here since this hike will take longer than two hours for most hikers of average ability.

I kept on getting semi-lost on this trail even with the downloaded map and kept on having to make micro-corrections to my route along the way. It’s a mixed use trail and I saw walkers, hikers, runners and cyclists along the way. There will also be plenty of tourists just standing around.

You will be on a mix of paved sidewalks and dirt trails, but at no point on the trail will it feel remote. I felt very safe doing this alone as a woman during a weekend day. However, I don’t recommend coming alone because this trail can be rather boring to do by yourself. If you do this trail, I would recommend bringing a friend so you could have a conversation along the way.

I’m glad I experienced this trail, but I don’t see myself prioritizing coming back anytime soon as someone from out of town.

Beautiful views from Golden Gate! So few places that are as scenic as this. Its an awesome walk in the Fall but anytime year round it’s beautiful!

Not hike or really a trail but living here for 10 years still one of my favorite sweet spots and we enjoyed hangout by with the butterflies in Conservatory after it was closed so long. Beautiful winter weather ❤️

Golden Gate Park is a great urban resource for hikers/bikers/joggers. The trail is flat nearly the entire way. Ignore an earlier review that said the park is on a hill. Golden Gate Park is most definitely NOT on a a hill. The western end of the park is nearly at sea level and the elevation change from end to end is only 262 ft. The park consists of approximately 1000 acres and is about 3 miles in length and a bit over 1/2 mile in width. The area was originally sand dues and was master planned and then planted into an arboretum type of setting. Easy and enjoyable urban hike.

Very enjoyable walk. Went early on a Sunday morning. Not too crowded. Beautiful views of the bay. Windy easy stroll across the bridge and back.

Cool, park, but has a side walk part, at one point of the trail, that has traffic noise driving through

Great easy trail, especially at sunset.
