Nice place for a walk or run. Excellent place to take your dogs to do exercise.

Dog-watch galore. Beach access. Hang gliding area. Beware of horse poop on trails. Overall, cute hike for families. I would not consider this area if you want something intense.

Walked it about 9 p.m. A few of the restaurants and bars were still open, but most shops and other tourists had called it a night. I did see a couple of large rats that looked to have a nest under the sidewalk near the beach.

Great hike for families - the kids loved running up and sliding down the sand dunes. Lots of dogs having fun playing off leash. Beautiful views. Better on a less windy day when the sand isn’t whipping around

Stunning views on a nice day.

It’s a great trail and a great view. But, if you go on the small trails up higher, they are very steep and some may find them pretty scary.

very pleasant and easy walk! very distracted by all the cute dogs. Don't come here if you want a challenging walk/hike.

One of our happy places, especially the leash free beach for the pups.

My favorite hike in the city. Head to the left if you’re more interested in hiking than dogs.

This has to be the most beautiful dog park in the world!! I love taking my dogs here and they love coming here too!! They even have made their own friends. What I also love about this park is that you can go to the beach and make it a very long walk or if you're not in the mood you can make it a short walk!!! Words cannot describe Fort Funston!!!

This place is a dream for dog owners. Dogs are free off leash. There is a nice hike on sand down to the water. Love. Love. Love.

Nice place but there are nicer hikes as well as nicer beaches along hwy1. great place for dogs though, the beach was filled with dogs and it was a clean beach.

a nice walk but becareful when you reach to the end of fort funston. There isn't really a pave-way for walkers. So watch out for the cars. Its a nice overview walk to see some nice houses and Stern Grove, then the Lake Merced. Just know to keep a look out once you reach the end.

Great beach for dogs. My dog enjoyed every second of the hike and the beach. Most dogs and owners there are usually nice. Our dogs really playful so he doesn't really know when to stop when he sees other dogs, he stayed on a leash almost the entire hike but we let him run free on the beach. There's a point where there's water for the dogs which is something we weren't familiar with but really appreciated. Definitely take your four legged fur child here, won't regret it!

It was a good enough trail but had too many dog-walkers with dogs who were not on leashes.

This is definitely one of my favorite walks with my dog because starting from the bottom of the hill, I can get a bit of exercise at the same time. The views from the top of the hill are indeed stunning on a clear day. I also like the public art up here.

I love Bernal!

There's a detour at the Wharf due to construction, so you have to walk through a park instead. A bit disappointing hearing the rush of water behind the construction fence and knowing you can't walk there, but a decent walk nonetheless. I started at sundown so most of the walk was at night-- it was well lit and safe, and perfect temperature to walk in without getting overheated.

This is my favorite spot for a nature walk in San Francisco. You get a stunning 360 view of the city. The walk is easy and there are cute dogs everywhere! It's also a great workout spot if you run the loop several times. Someone added a swing at the very top, but I wouldn't hop on as it looks quite unstable. There are 2 tiny lots for parking; one at the foot of the trail, and one midway up. Make sure to park at the one at the foot of the loop!
