Cool cloudy day. it was perfect for this trail. lots of up and down.

Pretty awesome views here and interesting place. Beach access 0.4 miles off the trail, an easy addition if you follow our recording. There’s a bunch more stairs down to the beach earlier on the path if you prefer. Have to cross metro tracks at the crossing to get to the beach. Can see the spot from the trail. 20 minutes from here we stumbled upon the nicest beach I have seen in my 35 years in California: Victoria Beach:The Pirate Tower of Laguna.

Great hiking trail. Definitely recommend when the weather is cooler. Found this to be on the more difficult side of a moderate hike with so many elevations. Overall a great workout for under a five mile hike. Found the trail to be a little confusing as to which way to go. Bring your phone. The trails app map kept us on track. Not too crowded which was nice. Dogs are allowed but please pick up after your dog. It was a shame how many dog stools were left behind.

Beware the ground is very hot for puppy paws on a sunny day! If you plan to hike with your pup go early, or on an overcast day. Also bring water!! Really enjoyed this trail.

Did this hike on May 15th 2019 One of my faves. The rolling, challenging hills are endless & the vote of the ocean as you load into the western Ridge is awesome. No shade. Many trail options. Bring at least 3L of water. Good for kids 12+. Lots of bike riders.

Great place to walk if you like dogs!

First mile is concrete road. Good hike on a sunny clear day. Would recommend for anybody.

Great trail and it’s beautiful. Quite hilly so would recommend proper shoes/attire. It’s a great trail for dogs as well sparse enough to leave your dog off a leash for most of the way. Watch for mountain bikers and dirt bikers.

All new species of flowers! Very nice views in all directions. Took the right fork onto the Encanto trail to see the view to Saddleback before turning back.

Great local hike...lots of inclines and multiple trail options! Minimal signage. Alltrails app accurate directions! Other hiker saw a coyote. No snakes just birds, lizards and a roadrunner!

Lots of snakes this time of year

A great hike. Very beautiful but a little easy to get lost. Also a lot of rattlesnakes on these trails so be careful with dogs and kids.

An OK trail. I started at the San Clemente Dog Park and went left on the trail with my dog a stroller. We only made it about 1/4 of the way before the trail got too narrow for us. Bring water and wear a hat/ sunglasses.

Overgrown and difficult to find our way even with app. Do not recommend to bring dogs.

Just hiked this yesterday. Flowers were everywhere and beautiful. A lot of mountain bikers, but they are very respectful. If you want something that will get your heartbeat up on the way up without having to drive 30 min from San Clemente this is a solid option.

Yellow flowers are in bloom! Beautiful rolling hills. Some parts are a bit steep and slippery. Wide trails for hikers, horseback, or mtn bike. Dogs allowed, but please pick up after them. Dog waste in many areas.

4/2019 trail is still intacted. trail is over grown. this trail system needs a paper map for visitors. the all trails app doesn't have all the trails in the area listed.

Very easy suburban hike with just a few hills. Just enough view of the canyons to make it feel like you're in nature without really having to go to far out of the way. Park in the residential area near the trailhead - lots of parking is available. There's a couple of picnic tables along the way, trash cans and doggie bags for your pooch as well. My small terrier did great on this hike. I might suggest NOT going in springtime, as the final hill - which probably would provide an amazing view any other time of year - was completely covered in mustard, and you couldn't see anything. Remember, folks, mustard is a weed, not a super bloom!

Nice walk along the strand here. There is ample free parking nearby the main entrance to the beach. I say entrance because the railroad runs parallel to the coast here, and you can only cross in a handful of places. You walk essentially parallel to the railroad and ocean on the paved strand here. The cliffs are outstanding here and the beach is usually immaculately clean. Please pick up any litter that you see!

Had a run in with a large brown on brown snake about a half mile in. not sure what kind. My dog, kids and I quickly reversed directions to leave. I won't be going back.

Beware of snakes.

Love the single tracks and the hills. Beautiful views and a must to patriot hill
