Beautiful hidden treasure....spectacular view of the Bay, the GG Bridge & San Francisco. The iconic lighthouse with suspension bridge are full of history. Easy trail to walk. A must visit if you’re around the area.

This was a great walk with my son (8yo). Definitely one of those things you should do at least once. And definitely go early!! We got there right around 12:30 when the lighthouse was opening. We waited about 20 minutes to go across the bridge to the actual lighthouse. But when we headed back the line was easily 50 people long, nearly to the tunnel. We had great marine mammal sitings along the hike. Very lovely and decent trails. At some points it is only wide enough for 2 people so if you can avoid bringing a stroller, please do. We noticed parking was tight. We parked down the hill a bit and hiked up past the Point Bonita YMCA.

Nice walk. The tunnel to walk out to lighthouse was closed today due to fog. But still a nice walk up to that point.

Started the track from Rodeo Lagoon where there is plenty of parking. Walked through the coastline towards the Bonita point. The highlight is definitely the light house with a suspension bridge. Weather not good need to wear a coat. But u could see that the view should be fantastic on sunny days. Will be back. Also kids and dogs friendly.

great views. easy walk.

Heavy traffic, but nice and easy paved hike with beautiful views of the bay. NOTE that it is only open for a few hours during the day so make sure you check before heading out there. We went early in the morning and the tunnel leading to the lighthouse was locked. We had to go back later in the day to finish the hike.

Its a great hike for beginners. There is way too many people there but it's a fun place to go. It will give you a beautiful look at the Bay Area. The lighthouse employees are very informative and provide great info on the lighthouse's history.

short and great scenery!

Lovely paved hike, beautiful views of the bay. Be mindful that the tunnel is only open certain days. Bridge to the lighthouse was closed and it appears it has been for some time.

just a beautiful hike.

Beautiful views of bridge, black sand(pebble) beach and lighthouse. Light house open 12:30-3:30 also got to see some seal resting.

I've hiked this trail many times in my lifetime and love every bit of it. I even proposed to my wife right next to the bridge over to the lighthouse. Go early to avoid the crowds because it can get really busy.

The trail offers great views on a nice day and is a quick and easy hike. It's currently only open on the weekends due to renovations, so it can get crowded. Four stars because it's a great place, but contrary to what the site says, dogs are not allowed on the Point Bonita trail.

The view is amazing and the weather was perfect. Great 1 mile hike for little kids. The sign said no Dogs. i like that since i have been on trails were dog owners do not clean up after their dogs.

Nice little hike down to the light house and spectacular views of the coast. Be aware the hours of the lighthouse are extremely limited.

In 1983 visited the lighthouse via this trail with my husband who was in a wheelchair. Exciting and beautiful hike.

A must do. The views are awesome. There are bathrooms and plenty of park personnel at the lighthouse to answer questions. From the 101 I suggest taking the one way road along the ridge out there.

Beautiful! An easy walk along the trail to one of the spectacular lighthouses in the country.

Easy. Beautiful. Cold.

Very easy hike. We biked from the city (about 10 miles from our apt in the Marina, including Hawk Hill). But once you reach the trail no bikes are allowed so bring a lock.
There are bathrooms located right near the trailhead.
The trail was mostly downhill, but I saw a woman pushing a stroller so I think it's safe to say anyone can complete this trail.
Make sure to bring a jacket as it gets pretty windy. The views are beautiful out here so make sure to go between 12:30-3:30 sat-mon.

Also, we just signed up for the full moon walk. It's once a month (obvi) and is supposed to be beautiful. I can't wait!

Definitely a "nice day during the winter" hike--the views of San Francisco and the coastline are magnificent, but the point is frequently shrouded in fog during the summer months. To hike the full distance, schedule to be there on the weekend, between 12:30 and 3:30, when the tunnel and new suspension bridge to the lighthouse are open. DO NOT PARK ALONG THE ROADWAY--the rangers are pretty vigilant about writing parking tickets. If the parking lot at the trailhead is full, park at the lot for the Battery Alexander trailhead. If time allows, make a detour to hike out to the old turn-around/parking area near the trailhead and visit Battery Mendel.

Very refreshing views and a pretty easy hike. I would recommend this hike for beginners or people just wanted to enjoy a clear day North of San Francisco.
