Nice trail and mostly uphill. Great workout though and getting to the top is worth it. Gorgeous views when you are able to see them. Bring plenty of water.

We just this trail this morning. I’m a once a week hiker and we went as a group of 13. We did the entire red highlighted track. In the end it was more like 7.5 miles. We considered this hike...HARD as it was long and took us through several incline hills. We started at 8:04am and completed it at 11:10am. If I hiked a lot, I would agree it’s a moderate rating but if your a beginner I would say it is hard. For beginners take the Alhambra Creek path which cuts across. From the parking lot go through the gate and at the open field take the trail to the left instead of the right side and follow the dotted lines. It will still give you a workout but not as difficult. It’s still a great hike. Lots of shaded trees and a beautiful view at the top of the hill.

Beautiful spot. I enjoy these trails regularly, primarily the Blue Oak. Yesterday I had hiked 3:15 - 4:45pm when I returned to the parking lot to find the back window of my car smashed and items stolen from the rear compartment. EB Parks Police officer came to take a report.

Briones was my go to afternoon hiking area for a decade. Great place to take my dog out. Keep an eye out for single tracks...

Nice views & a good moderate length hike. Part shaded/woodland & part grassland. Parking was available at the trailhead. We’ll be back!

Nice trail. Much of it is shaded. Dog friendly. Not terribly challenging, but enough hills to make it enjoyable.

The real good part only comes after reaching Briones Road, where it is open air and you get to take in the views of the rolling hills. Briones Peak was a tad disappointing though as my view was blocked by trees or maybe I’m doing something wrong. For a better view, take a right turn onto Briones Crest Trail, pass the two lakes onto Mott Peak Trail where you’d reach Mott Peak. There isn’t any resting bench there but views are so much better.

This trail can get really muddy in the winter... The 1st time I did it was with my wife and 5 Golden Retreivers. Two women Rangers rode their horses through as we leashed up the dogs and stood off trail to let them by. We stayed there for about 10 minutes before we unleashed the dogs and unfortunately they took off to see the horses close up!!!! The Rangers started screaming and we got the dogs without any harm being done other than 2 angry Rangers. Hiked there at least 200 times and it was the only time I saw Rangers on horseback... There is also a nice little pond that my dogs always enjoyed.

My main go to for 15 years. I've done every foot of Briones over and over with or without many of my Golden Retreivers. I

Did this yesterday and what a beautiful day for a hike. . .Loved the cows.

Steep incline, but the view from the top makes the trip well with the pain to get there.

Awesome hike. We parked at Alhambra Creek Staging area. The parking fee is $3 and there is an extra fee for dogs of $2 per dog (we weren't charged the dog fee due to the small size of our dogs. They are both around 5 pounds.). The trails are well marked and easy to navigate. We had our two small dogs with us and they did great. There are a few different trail options you can take, so your hike can be extended quite a bit. The sections we took had some nice, moderate hill climbs and down grades, and a small part where there was some water on the trail. Most of the trail was open with no shade, but there are a few shady sections at the beginning and towards the end. Really nice views of the valley on the upper sections.

Great in the afternoon because you'll be in the shade. It's about 5 miles round-trip and takes me about 1 1/2 hours.

Beautiful setting but the trails are not clearly marked causing lots of confusion.

Excellent trail!! Lots of cows the Briones crest gate trail was locked (towards table top trail) is that a private trail?? Or I didn't know how to open the gate?? Lol either way I took the trail to diablo trail and it was beautiful!! Recommended!!

If you want to feel like in your in Ireland than take a stop here. Amazing.

The first time I did this hike was with my son in 2003. The last time was 4 months ago solo and there were a few other times in between. Plenty of hills but not really long or very steep. Just enough to get a good cardio and be able to enjoy the views and getting a workout and some miles on your feet.
