Nice hike with well maintained trails. Very casual loop hike. Redwood trees are particularly beautiful and the route is almost completely shaded. However, you never get that feeling of completely being out of a suburban area. Bring cash for parking too

Went on Thursday 5/10, arrived at 11am and completed 9 mike hike in about 4 hours. Lots of shade, awesome atmosphere, very green, nice views and amazing Redwoods, passed by the creek area. Great for bird watching. Downhill at the beginning and uphill at the end. Went with a friend who doesn’t normally hike and she was able to complete the 9 miles with very short pauses on the uphill part. Ok for hiking solo as well, saw many people hiking alone. Fair cell phone reception. Parking available.

This trail was a great workout, all downhill one way and uphill the other. Poles are definitely a good idea for this trail, especially if your knees give you trouble. Banana slugs and wildflowers abound! Lots of shade on the way down with more exposed areas on the way up. Bring layers. There are port a potties at both ends of the trail but no trash cans, so please be sure to pack out what you bring in. Also there aren’t any tables or really great places to stop and eat along the trail or at either end. This is definitely a beautiful trail!

Some of the trails are a bit steep in places but totally worth it. Where else will you get OXYGEN near a city like this? And the sound of birds!

Really nice well-kept trail. Quiet and beautiful. Barely saw a soul until close to 10am. We were there at 8! Definitely easy.

Exhausting but worth it!

Shaded trails, liked it!

A bit hard to climb up. Very nice seashore view

Good backyard hiking! Despite the short distance, it has a nice incline to challenge you to a second a
nd third round!

Amazing Redwood canopy lined by fern and occasional mist. Heaven!

Really good hike and the uphill on the return is definitely a good workout. Beautiful redwood groves and a serene creek, a variety of wildflowers, and a few pretty good views of the coast below.

Great training loop; good tree coverage to protect from the elements but some exposure on the hike up to the lot; definitely a difficult climb especially with a heavy pack

Hike was great. Though we carried enough water, we didn’t have anything to eat. Getting some calories while burning them would have made this hike even more enjoyable!!

Great trail with lots of Geocaches! Drone footage can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMt2gbNfKQU

Great views and an amazing hike!

Did this exact trail and loved it. Well kept trails. Lots of zig zags. Some parts were moderate but plenty of shade that I didn’t need my hat. Parking has fees and would love to use the picnic tables to have a gathering or just use it for our packed lunch.

Easy downhill, hard hiking back. Still beautiful

Great place for kids and dogs (and even better when the kids love dogs!). Good balance of shade and relatively easy hikes. Parking can be challenging.

Nice combination of forest, meadow and between.
Lots of wild flowers this time of the year.

Great awesome marked trail. Lots of choices and views.

You can hear cars for some of it. Doesn’t feel like you’re truly away in nature. Good for those that live close by and just want a quick hike.

on Edgewood Trail Loop

For a compact area, the trails in Edgewood Preserve feel well laid out. It's scenic, with a mixture of covered and open spaces.

The two reasons for the low rating is that 1) it's heavily trafficked and 2) you almost always can hear car noise. This is specially pronounced on the parts of the reserve bordering Edgewood Road and highway 280.

There are many different options to complete this loop. The loop has a lot of features, redwoods, ocean viewpoint, creek. It was a good climb at the latter half, and the trail has a lot of shades. Once passed the first descending part it would be a very good trail for running too.
One can see a lot of different scenes in this one loop. from mountain to ocean, from bare ground to tree canopies, from mountaintop to creek valleys.
Definitely worth the effort of completing the whole loop.

Superb for trail running! I didn't find it hard though, but moderate. Also, I hoped for 4k elevation gain, but it has about 3k.

Some of the redwoods were nice but there wasn’t much in the way of views. For a 20+ mile hike, it was rather monotonous.

Up up up! A nice hike to get your blood pumping. Views get better the higher you go!

Great loop and easy category is correct.

I did this trail with Bay Trail Runners! Beautiful trail! Plenty of shade and good elevation gains for a challenge.

Gorgeous! I didn’t think it was hard. I would call it moderate.
