This was very enjoyable. However information was incorrect. The mileage is actually 14.7 miles and the elevation gain is 2840. There was a race marshal that we met on the trail who was setting up the marathon event who verified our statistics. We hike regularly and it took us 4 hour and 50 mins to finish, including about 10 mins break in total. 80% of the trail is shaded, very well maintained trails and clear signs.

This is an excellent hike ranging between moderate to hard depending in personal stamina. We did the complete 9.8 mile starting from North ridge, whittmore gulch, purisima Creek, Craig britton, Harkins ridge and back again North ridge.
elevation gain is good towards the last 2 miles. start early as it takes around 5-6 hours to complete

Nice easy and fast hike but a little brown. Lots of dead/browning shrubbery and trees which was sad. Not super lush but easy trail and good parking - there’s a small lot and there were plenty of spaces available when we went on a Sunday afternoon

We end up doing Timberview - Giant Salamander - Methuselah loop.
A little over 6 miles.
Nice well shaded trails all the way.
Beautiful forest, large trail except Giant Salamander.
Downhill on Timberview then all the way uphill back.
Not too bad uphill, about 3 miles total.

We were on vacation in US and this was our second last day, and we choose this hike. It is very demanding from the elevation perspective but very nice in the afternoon hours..

Go COUNTER CLOCKWISE! Did the Loop clockwise. Started at 9:15am. First 2/3 of the trail was shaded and scenic. Last 1/3 was steep and full of flies. Definitely a moderate/hard gorgeous hike.

Sufficient parking at trailhead even on weekends. There are a couple of picnic benches and a bathroom near the lot. Well-marked trail with good views of the valley and bay. Kid-friendly.

I had hoped to do the Whitemore Gulch and Purisma Creek Loop, but felt I was running out of daylight, and so came up the Harkness trail instead. I have to say it wasn't my favorite. After an initial pretty exposed portion along the beginning of North Ridge, this dips into pleasant shady Redwoods territory. Beside the beginning of the return loop near the creek -- where I saw a beautiful banana slug in the middle of the trail -- coming up the Harkness Ridge portion really was mostly a miserable slog in the heat. It might be better clockwise as others suggest, or early morning.

Clean trail! Lots of parking. yes there are restrooms. Park entrance is $6. Cool and 95% shady! Lots of trees! The trails are properly marked! I will do it again. The trail is combination of flats and little elevations and downhill.

Awesome trail. Started early that is a bit before sunrise and traversed most part of it in shade. In late September, there was still some good water in the stream below which goes along a good part of the trail. Saw banana slugs. We did counterclockwise, the first and last parts are really steep. A nice workout.

Great loop for moderate hike!

Amazing hike! it's good for trail running too... trees and the view is pretty. we'll hike it again!

We started at 7:30AM. it was quiet, there are routes when it's a I
little confusing that we have to go back and forth until we hit the right one. we had to go back half way since we were time constraint. but over all, it was a good hike.

We started from the North Ridge trail parking lot. It’s a really great hike with stunning views on the ocean, followed by being surrounded by the redwood trees. Then a rather easy walk along the creek, followed by a steep climb. It’s a proper workout in the end, but a very satisfying hike!

Easy trail, nothing spectacular. You end up next to the 280 which is not nice, but then again you get a great view of the bay on the other side.

It’s great as a an off-road running track though.

Beautiful and easy hike (if you go clockwise) in the woods , very peaceful and quiet before 10am. Great for families with kids as the incline is very mild.

Trail starts downhill, so conseeve your energy to fight the uphill battle on return.
98% if the trail is under the shade. The ground is covered by thick layer of pine needles- like walking on carpet.

There’s a couple of entrance for this trail, trail signs inside the park is good, no so good to the exit of the park. I’ll say going down is easy, uphill is harder, beautiful redwoods.

Love it!!! just so nature!!!

Loved this short hike! The end of the trail is big Redwoods with a small babbling stream. The weather was perfect while I was there. Good for families. It was difficult to find the entrance. Seems like a hidden trail which makes it all the more enjoyable.

good to have on hand at a moments notice where ever you are when you a looking for an activity.
also shows if dogs are allowed before you get there so trips aren't wasted.

probably best for an early morning hike when it's not too hot, given that only the beginning of the trail is nicely shaded, and the rest is quite bare. quite a bit of uphill in the second half, and lots of loose gravel that makes going downhill a bit challenging. view is very nice when you get to the summit via anniversary trail. very worth it!

Quick hike right off the highway. Pretty short and easy, but spectacular views.

Easy hike with kids.

Maybe medium trail not hard.
Not very good marked as trail goes through several parking locations but with this app you'll be okay.
Nice shaded trail for 80% of the time.
We end up doing 10 miles not 8.5.

great moderate hiking.
Miramontes is close but you can navigate easy.
other than that is a great hike.
