It is a nice, well paved trail. Not a lot o f shade. Very nice though.

We went on to explore some more ended up going up up up on a fire trail. Turned into a 13 mile hike. My 11 year old puppies were soooo tired.

Simple hike with absolutely gorgeous views. The well maintained trail spirals up for a slow steady climb. From the top you can see the river and the dam, its 360° of beauty.

Great views! Started out with the intention of doing the 4.66 trail, but ended up going all the way to Shasta Dam. Great hike but I was exhausted after the 15.68 hike. Bring plenty of water as it was still pretty warm in October. #onestepatatime

Beautiful, clean, paved trail. Very scenic and peaceful. Good trail for kids, only issue was shade was fairly sporadic.

The bike trail was closed at three point. One was just a two day closure to clean up the fire debris. The other two the trail was washed out. Had to be creative in finding a way back onto the trail. Ride is great, roads are free of debris. All trails made my ride not only salvageable but worry free

got lost and turned the 5 mile hike into a 7 mile hike DOWNLOAD THE MAP there is only one lake entrance at the very beginning but our two pups loved it! (as always)

great in spring! dead and dry in summer, but its it's close to our house so we go quite a bit. its very easy, we take our 4year old and pups on it. in the spring there is a creek that the pups can cool off in and there is a vista point (it's labled) that you can stop for a snack or a picture.

awesome endurance booster. this climb is a beast

easy flat and beautiful running trail. easy to find the way. would def. recomend.

Lots of good smells, nice path for hiking or running. Good trail for pugs!

Great hike. Temp 75* 12 other people on the trail. My watch says 4.79 miles and 655 elevation gain. You want to do this hike on a cool day. The views at The top are terrific, worth the hike up. No faculties. Bring water

Easy 6 miles

Nice periodic shade throughout the hike.

Beautiful trail and views even during the summer. Very little shade but enough to be able to take breaks and let your body naturally cool down. This trail was my second hike this summer and I was dying by the 5th mile. I still enjoyed the hike. There's a little stream that still flows during the summer (somewhere after mile 5).

Nice easy trail for a morning stroll. There is shade along the trail with a nice picnic table at the vista point. beautiful view of the gorge. I would recommend this trail to anyone who is starting out hiking and trying to get their body used to hiking.

This trail was definitely more difficult than “easy”, but maybe not quite moderate. The beginning of the trail is all uphill for the first mile or two. After that it’s comfortably downhill. I would say it was challenging but not discouraging for someone who doesn’t hike every weekend. The vista is beautiful, albeit mostly a view of burned trees from the fire. At the beginning/end of the trail there is a place where you can walk down to the creek and swim. The perfect way to end the hike. There are a few shady spots, but overall you’re hiking in the sun. Will be going again, especially when it cools down.

Love love love this hike! Great choice in town, great little workout and amazing views! Can’t beat it for 10 minutes from home.

Great little hike if you only have a little time. Not many people as well. If you're looking for getting away from the crowd, this might work for you.
