Great trail! Went in mid-March and endured some rain and beautiful snowfall! This time of year there are a few creeks to cross carefully and a beautiful waterfall. The hike up can be a little grueling but you can do it! There is a big clearing at the peak, and even a nice bench under a tree. The hike down is fast and easy. The whole thing took us about 3 hours. Helps to bring along a beautiful partner.

Love all the trails at lema ranch!

#tenlegstosunset Tried out a new trail, which turns out to be a series of bike trails. The saved course on All Trails didn’t do much good at first since there are a variety of trails and all off shoots seemed well groomed enough. GPS and map worked well since it’s pretty close to neighborhoods and the city. It was a nice workout regardless and once I got a handle I realized it’s a good option close to home. Went late in the day, so we ran into nobody else. My concern was where I parked, not sure if it was someone’s property or an easeway.

We have ridden piety loop a couple times and it’s an easy ride. Rocky in some spots and no water where we went but for a quick ride it’s perfect. About 90 min with spots to trot or lope. The Horsetown trail connects to make a longer ride. Scenery is beautiful and no roaming dogs when we went.

A scenic moderately difficult trail. It’s definitely more single than double track if plan on going with friends. Not really kid friendly.

Hiked from Peltier Campground up the 4x4 road (since the gate is closed in the winter) to the Kanaka Peak Trail. Enjoyed sweeping views, a seasonal waterfall and a 360• view at the top! It was a beautiful, clear Sunday morning and I could see the Trinity Alps to the west, Lassen to the East and other mountains to the north and south with rolling hills! The shaded bench will be great in the summer seeing as the top is otherwise totally exposed. I took the Kanaka Cutoff Trail back down to Logging Camp and then back to the campground. Got a little turned around, but really enjoyed my hike! The creek crossings, top views and flora and fauna are so rich! Worth the effort and will do it again!

Beautiful hike on well kept trails. Clear trail marking and a pick nick bench at the top made for a great experience.
The gradual incline makes this hike pleasant event for those of us with old sports injuries in knees and hips.

The majority of the trail is uncrowded, peaceful and scenic. The first few miles near the sundial Bridge is heavily trafficked my recommendation is to start at the Elks Lodge and head out from there.

Great for a family bike ride. It connects with the Lema bike and dog walk trails which lead to Minder Park, a sweet neighborhood playground and picnic area.

We had only done the Piety Hill Loop from the bottom on Clear Creek, but this time we started up top and connected from there. Much wider trails, warmer and brighter. Beautiful, no water as the creeks crossing were all pretty dry but we had plenty of water. The vista loop is highly recommended. No difficult parts really, so I’m not sure why they would rate the Cloverdale Loop as medium in difficulty on AllTrails. Dogs had a blast and I got a good workout! Also caught some fruity blossom smells and some bees buzzing as spring is getting an early start.

the smell of piss and human feces are just among many of the discomforts of walking downtown Redding. it is disgusting to see just how dirty the walls of buildings and sidewalks get and every corner is usually occupied by some passed out bum or prostitute looking for work. never walk alone and try not to take children.

perfect for a brisk walk in fall and spring seasons. good for strollers and children of all ages. I just wouldn't recommend this Trail during the summer time when the sun is overhead there is not too much shade or any real good places to cool down.

this is a very small Loop you could shout to people on it directly on the other side of the pond and they would hear you with ease. but I appreciate that it's there I saw some fishing and of course it is an excellent place to see certain species of waterfowl a couple years ago I saw a couple of Cormorants and white egrets, usually there is a local pair of ducks that stay year-round.

extremely easy walk paved the entire way. this is my regular area as I live very close and take my children for stroller rides and rollerblading quite often.

I appreciate any Trail for what it is and what it provides for the community and tourists alike. I took this Trail and Mountain biked the whole thing I love the many changes in grade; and the many different scenerys it has lots of different pockets of little areas some nice and full of shade and others with a beautiful view and full sun.

Great hike! Several offshoot trails along the way. Hiked a roundtrip of 10 miles-was fantastic with great views!

Super fun easy trail to hike not super steep like some trails around here beautiful views of lake Shasta Shasta dam and mount shasta and even amazing views of lassen

We come here at least a few times a week— easy access, clean bathrooms and paved which makes it nice for our stroller. I feel safe coming here by myself because it is populated and the trails are open. There are gravel trails in the back that are connected and in the spring they have beautiful creeks flowing through. The gravel area allows dogs and bikes

Very beautiful hike! Went with friends and hiked to the peak and it has beautiful views of mt. Shasta and mt. Lassen. Would definitely do again.

Nice little workout yesterday... had the trail to ourselves, beautiful weather, the streams were all pretty low/easy to cross, trail is in good shape/well-maintained with a couple of passable downed trees. The road to the trailhead is closed for winter so that’s an added mile or so of mostly uphill hiking, totaled about 8.25-8.5 miles round trip all said and done, did it in about 4 hours with a break at the top for lunch. Nice 360° views from the peak. Lots of ticks!! Probably stopped and pulled at least 20-30 out of my dog’s fur throughout our hike.

Be aware that Whiskeytown’s day use fee is now $20(!!), or you can buy a 1-year access that includes Lassen for $40.

Not much of a hiker but this trail was extremely fun and beautiful views from the top of Kanaka peak

My boyfriend, our small shitzu, and myself took this hike today and really enjoyed it. While we are not out of shape we are certainly not athletes. We found the hike to be between easy and intermediate only because it's all uphill for 2.5 miles. The trail is in good shape and well marked. We would recommend it for anyone looking for a hike that doesnt take all day. The hike took us about 2 hours.

Easy Trail with beautiful views of the creek and surrounding area. You can connect to longer trails as well.

Well kept trail by the BLM, a lot of work has been done clearing brush to open views.
Easy hike great reward.
