Great running trail although I used part of it, coming from Whiskeytown I started at the Mine loop, to canal loop, to Mule mountain pass, then mule loop to black bear pass then Mule Mountain summit and back. We are lucky to live were we do. It was a crazy busy day to say the least

Well maintained and clearly marked trail. Great views!

Pretty area to walk with lots of different plants and flowers to see. If you go all the way to the back there’s a nice park area and also a kids area and picnic benches.

We did this hike on 4th of July morning. Was a nice hike and only took us a couple of hours. There’s a picnic bench at the peak to eat and enjoy the views.

Me and my girls did this trail a couple weeks ago, it was nice the whole way up but once you get to the top it's amazing.

Walking into this beautiful scenic trail my friend and I were greeted by a dog poop bag hanging from a tree. This was about 20 steps away from the entrance, which has a trash can. The hike up to the peak is more of a moderate difficulty for two chubby women. The view at the peak is worth the chaffing thighs and sweat. Be sure to bring water!

A couple notes, if you have to park behind the gate because it’s locked, the trail is not to your right. That is a mountain bike trail. Walk forward about 200 yards and you will find a sign and a paved trail the entire way. It’s super easy but not much to see. For taking kids, (bikes, strollers) it’s great.

This trail is on the edge of Redding California and is an all asphalt trail. I enjoyed the trail even though I didn’t get away from the city and the traffic. I’m glad I walked this trail and for anyone that likes a new trail each time out take the time to include this trail as one you have walked.

Well maintained trail. I took some of the offshoot trails and seen a beautiful lake and some history along the way. I would recommend this trail to be added to any hikers to do list.

Nice trail but the app directions were hard to follow as there are many offshoot trails. If you get off the trail onto some of the offshoot trails it can go from easy to hard pretty quickly. I went down a hill and ended up sliding about 10’ down the hill on my rear. I did comes home with something to talk about.

Absolutely love the views, and it is the perfect balance of challenging and doable to make the ride a very worthwhile experience.

This is a nice trail to enjoy with the family. We always add this loop to our ride when we ride the Sacramento River Loop. Very easy with a slight grade and is wide and paved. Always quiet on this loop.

We have done this easy loop a few times and have added a few extra loops around the area as the weather was just too beautiful to stop.

We enjoyed our very first hike. This was an easy hike and we ended up going 5.75 miles total. The view of ALL THINGS SHASTA at the top is amazing!

The map directions via Apple map had us starting at Wintu trail. From there we hiked to Meiners Loop then went on the Escalator trail and ended up where you could choose to continue to Whiskytown, head up to the summit, take the Terminator trail, Mt Mule trail, or return via Escalator trail. This was our 2nd hike ever and were glad we challenged ourselves. We ended up going 10.08 miles round trip today. We didn’t get in any hurry and met a few other hikers and some on mountain bikes.

as someone that is in decent but not great shape I found this hike to the top of the peak a little challenging. so I'd rate it more moderate for those in similar shape. definitely not all "gradual" incline. some areas have some steepness to them. the view at the top makes the hike up worth it for sure. the 4y/o 14y/o and border collie had no issues and we managed to get in and out around 2 hours. total trip was closer to 5 miles up and back

definitely a beautiful trail. went to the left and came down the mountain bike trail. lots and lots of uphill. nothing overly steep like whiskeytown but not necessarily a "easy peasy" trail. but easy for uphill training.

Non-strenuous hike to a peak with awesome views. Picnic table at the top if you want to hang out and enjoy the view. We hiked on an overcast day so it was nice all the way up. I could imagine the east facing switchbacks near the top might get a bit toasty on a clear sunny day.

Today was our first hiking trip ever. Flanagan/Chamise peak trail was our choice to see if hiking was for us. We are seniors and have done a decent amount of biking and are regulars at the gym.

We are hooked on hiking and after our hike we went to town and bought hiking equipment. This is an easy trail if you have been active in your life and the view at the top is sensational. Happy Hiking from the Slack’s.

Such a beautiful place! The trails were smooth, scenery was incredible, our kids had a great time climbing on the rocks watching the birds in the ponds, and all the other wildlife.
Although the paths were paved and easily accessible for wheels and walking, there were hills, which could make it difficult for someone who has trouble walking.
We were very confused on where the trails led and which direction we were allowed to go though. We saw this beautiful tree-lined path, but I guess that is private property... I wish maybe there had been more signs? But overall a neat place!

Amazing trail!

Beautiful trail that slowly inclines for 2.5 Miles to the gorgeous peak that gives you a 360 degree view of mountains and Shasta lake and the Sacramento River. There are trees and shady places to hang your hammock at the top. Highly recommend this.

Great trail for beginners and us old folk. There was a nice reward of a picnic table and a breathtaking view at the top. I will be doing it again.

Very well-maintained and marked trail! Beautiful view at the top. Awesome for a trail run or short hike.

Great trail with the classic 3 Shastas view at the top.

We took a family trip here today. It’s a little crowded at the sundial bridge but the walking paths were very secluded and we were passed by bikers many times. There are bathrooms and resting areas. Great to pack a lunch for. There was a fish viewing station where you walk down and can watch through windows as the water passes. We saw lots of wildlife including snakes, turtles, and deer! The deer were less than 10 ft from us and my kids loved it.

This was such a fun short hike with a small little workout and once reach the top there is a picnic table were u can sit and have lunch like we did and it over looks mt Shasta and Shasta lake so pretty would deff do it again
