Ramona, California Map

Very easy trail. There wasn’t much traffic on the trail at all when I went. It was an overcast some what rainy day which was odd since we rarely get rain out here. Nevertheless, it was a nice hike with my dog and a friend. I would go later in the day during the warmer months since there isn’t any shade.

this is a very easy hike. Benches are spaced along the dirt path, some under the shade of old oak trees. Beautiful views all around, frequented by jogger, walkers and horses.

This hike was beautiful and challenging. The challenge was the latter half, climbing back up the mountain. It was definitely worth it though!

It’s not hard as it says on this app. It’s more of moderate hike. Loved it. You need a visitor group permit which covers a max of 5 ppl. It’s costs 10 bucks. I liked the three sisters waterfall more than cedars creeks

Amazing hike!!! The app says Hard but it's more like moderate. I recommend going early to enjoy the waterfall and there's not a whole bunch of people. Register at www.recreation.gov in order to see the fall or if you get caught you'll get a fine, it's worth paying the $10. There are 75 registrations per day so make sure you register before you go. Have fun!

Great hike in the scrub, nice views of the Ramona hills and ravines. This year, the wild flowers may not show, at least until we have a 2nd rainfall... however, they say this hike is 3.6 miles, but I'm at that mark and it looks like it will go for miles more.

Nice trail that offers a lot of photo spots. A lot of cool rocks/ boulders for climbing as well. Kinda takes the "natural" feel for the trail since its all pavement, but reduces the risks of falling or slipping. The line for the photo at the potato chip rock is ridiculous though....

Quite rocky and a bit washed out. Not a good choice if you have knee issues. But a nice walk in the county park

Hike today before I signed up for this app. ☹️ GREAT hike! Carried a toddler on my back going up and down, will come back when falls are running.

accomplished this one in 2012 it was really rewarding

Beautiful views the whole time! Not sure if you can go longer than the 4 miles. You eventually reach a no trespass sign, believe it’s marked as a private ranch.

Did this hike for the first time it was easier than I thought. It is rated as hard but I think it is moderate it is not too strenuous and not too steep. The elevation is pretty Steep at times it’s a gradual climb up and down the mountain. Took my chance and didn’t get a permit as there is nobody down by the waterfall checking. It is only $10 and the fine is $180 so it makes sense to pay the $10 because they use it for the restoration of the trails anyways. You are allowed To hike the trail but you do have to have a permit to enter the Water Falls area. There are other trails that you can take. The Ranger told me there will be no water and he was right he said go after March when the snow was melting and it’s a better experience. All in all a great hike recommend bringing water going early as it does get hot. Beautiful scenery and beautiful sounds of nature. They must hike for everyone at least once. Happy hiking :)

All Pave road, reaching the top to see potato chip rock was rewarding. It wasn’t much of a beautiful hike for me maybe it’s because of the paved road so it didn’t feel natural to me. I think the Poway side will be much better.

Definitely a challenging hike with the elevation gain. It was very quiet and peaceful at the granite near the summit.

This hike is not moderate, it isn't even hard, it's BRUTAL.

I am in shape and this hike kicked my butt! It is about 4 and 1/2 miles to the top, at a steady, steep incline 95% of the time in total sun. Once you finally get to the top, if you can make it that far, the trail disappears. I started down what I thought was a trail to do down another way, but wasn't sure and didn't want to go miles out of my way and half to climb that again. All Trails says it is a loop, but there are no markers up there so I just turned around and came back the way I went up. Dogs are allowed, on a leash of course. However, if you or your dog are not healthy and in shape, you will never to able to make it. Lots of water, a hat and sunscreen are essential. Like I said, this hike is extremely difficult and very annoying. There is nothing of interest to look at along the nine miles you will be huffing and puffing. No trees, shade, water, or animals, unless you count crows circling around in the sky.

Good luck!

I’m a newbie and I loved this hike! It’s beautiful and interesting. So much to see, great views. The vernal pools were cool. Mostly easy but there are some pretty good hills a couple of miles in that surprised me, but the dog and I made it. There isn’t much shade so definitely an early morning hike. Pick a breezy day, it helps!

I loved this trail, not too difficult for a beginner. Very little traffic on a Sunday morning. I think the dog and I came across 3 other groups. Mostly wide open trail, a couple of narrow spots. Some soft sandy patches. Pretty pasture views. Not much shade, I could see that being an issue in hotter months. Bring water.

Not too hard. Assuming it’s a lot harder during the summer. Didn’t get to see the water actually falling since it hasn’t rained but still an awesome sight to see. Totally recommend this hike.

Definitely more of just a short walk. Perfect to do with my 4 year old.
Tip: Park on the street closest to the lake, then walk to the range station. There's also a playground next to the lake.
