Great trail to hike and trail run! I enjoyed the scenery. Made it to Lake Poway. Relaxed at the bench, snacked, than continued with hike. Trail run my way back to staging area. Lots of trails to choose from. Will hike again =)

Hiked 6/18/18 on a Monday. It was a nice hike to Lake Ramona. Beginning shaded and flat. When you reach the end of the tree line is the last of the shade and you will also start hiking on a gradual incline. It does get steeper towards the top. When you hit the asphalt the incline is more challenging. There are nice views along the way and at the top but what we all didn't care for was the water station, the power lines, the electric station, and the guard rail at the top. I understand they are necessary, it just took away from the beauty of nature. Bring your water and sunscreen. parking not a problem and easy to find.

one of my favorites, a nice cardio climb.

Did a full moonlight hike up this trail! Was beautiful!! Lots of jagged rocks to step over at the top. But all in all a great hike!!

I loved this trail. It was a good, solid work out, with the reward of amazing views at the very top. I highly recommend it.

Good hike, not too difficult. A little cloudy when i went but the views i saw were still gorgeous.

Watch out for the fire ants, i was stung while minding my own business sitting on a rock at the top. The rock was clear of ants when i first sat down, those buggers came around after a good few minutes of sitting there

Great hike with beautiful views! Not super long but there are a few inclines so you still feel like you're getting a decent workout in.

Great hike. Loved it. Good parking.

Awesome trail. Beautiful views. I was surprised how many people were out on this trail so early in the morning. And lots of dogs.

We started in the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve with the Overlook Trail that then connected to the main Green Valley Trail. From there, we took the Lake Poway Trail and walked around the lake to the bottom of Mt. Woodson, which was the start of the way to Potato Chip Rock. We also did the West End Loop in the Lake Poway Recreation area. In total, we hiked 8.4 mikes, climbing 107 flights. We really enjoyed the hike as there was a variety of scenery and elevation. We really liked how Blue Sky connected to Lake Poway and there were quite a few other trails that we intend to explore on another day when we have more time. I was slightly disappointed in not seeing more wildlife. The highlight was seeing two woodpeckers pecking on 2 different trees to each other Morse code style, which was pretty interesting to watch. All in all, there’s lots to see and hike.

I really enjoyed this hike. I went early to beat the crowd and there was only a couple people at the top with me.

There is a good amount of parking, but I would make sure to get there early because it appeared to fill up really fast.

When you start the hike you will be on a groomed dirt road/ish for about the first mile. After that you will be at the base of the climb and be taking the switchbacks all the way to the top.

Once you get the switchbacks the hike feels a lot like a Cowles Mountain. I felt challenged by the hike, and really enjoyed the surrounding views. Make sure you bring lots of water on warmer days, there is not shade!

Love Iron Mountain!!! Done it twice; hands down one of the best hikes in SOCAL. Moderately traveled, good for dogs (as long as they can handle the hot sun and long hike). Bathrooms are available at the start of the hike but BEWARE they are GROSS!!!

Took some pole with us and fished, went for a dip after that last stretch incline.
Fun hike, shade and not much traffic at all.

Moderate hike with great views at the top

I enjoy this hike as I do this one often. I enjoy the solitude of an early morning (

It is a fun, moderate hike with a nice steady incline to the top. It’s probably best on a cloudy day since there is zero shade. Parking was decent.

Too many poop bags left behind on the trail.

Great Hike!

Fun and pretty local trail, with some spectacular views. Great to go for sunset at the top, if you bring your headlamps.

Great hike! It wasn’t too hot yesterday, but I can’t imagine doing it when it’s supper hot. There’s no shade on the hike. Great parking. Lots of dogs and children. Beautiful view on the top..

this Trail is great for running... I prefer to go to the right around the lake. there is a small Trail close to the water that you can take around part of the lake that's pretty interesting and doesn't look like a big road. That's where the fisherman go and there's less people. on the way back you can go up to Lake Ramona which is about another mile and a half up.. i clocked 8.5ish
