Great for trail running. Lots of shade. Trail in terrific condition. Hardly any other hikers on trail.

Fun but hot as hell... absolutely no shade of plan on leaving early. Last mile is pretty tough but the lake was well worth it.

Great hill for a quick ruck!

Good loop to avoid the crowds. The Ellie Lane parking lot is not open yet so we parked at Iron Mountain and then walked north on the trail towards the Ellie Lane pathway, then up to flat rock/table rock, then up and over to Ramona Overlook. We saw 5 people in total before we joined the Iron Mountain trail so if you're worried about social distancing this is a good route to consider. Looking at the Memorial Day crowds going up Iron Mountain we decided to give it a miss this time.

This was a good hike with a nice view of Lake Ramona at the top. You could also see Lake Poway from parts of the incline as well. Definitely pack lots of water!

Don’t think this trail exists. We looked for a path per the GPS but nothing there. Fortunately the other parts of the iron Mountain Trail are lovely

Beautiful trail but beware of rattlesnakes! There’s no room to run as the trail is very narrow with tons of bushes. I had to go up throwing rocks ahead of me to warn them of my presence there when a fellow hiker told me he had spotted a snake. If you run you’ll get easily hurt. There’s no room for surprises. Lots of lose rocks. I’d recommend the regular iron mountain trail now. Too much headache trying to spot the next snake! It is a beautiful trail and it’s very quiet. You can hear and see more birds and the view from the back of the mountain is just awesome. Great hike! At the end my GPS showed 8.4 miles, not 7.3.

Great trail! Starts by a golf course and behind a neighborhood then leads to a wonderful outlook of Poway Lake and Lake Ramona or you can veer off to the Mt. Woodson summit. I would recommend parking on the side of the 67 by the “Fire Station” sign and walking down to the path from there. There is a small path off the 67 behind the guardrail that leads you to the trail. It’s just beyond the trail head by the golf course, so you won’t miss much by hopping in here.

Excellent trail with great views!

Lots of inconsiderate people on this trail. Today I experienced: - People flying a drone in the middle of the trail. - Teenagers throwing large rocks down the side of the trail. - Dozens of people playing music loudly from speakers. If you're a serious hiker, skip this place. The hike is okayish at best and the locals are awful. This was my first and last time here.

Great lesser known trail with less traffic to the peak!

Eggsellant!!

Super beautiful. Was nice in March. But can imagine it’s super super hot late April through late September. Long winding trail up to a beautiful mountain top that overlooks Northern San Diego County Ocean. You can even see San Diego downtown skyline. Was moderate. Very fun.

Relatively easy out and back trail. amazing views the whole way up the mountain. Large unstable rocks in some places, so watch out. After it's rained there will be a few small steam crossings throughout the trail.

Currently closed due to coronavirus, posted on March 26th

Beautiful hike. No shade but on a cooler day or early morning it’d be perfect. Dog and kid friendly.

Me encantó este camino, lo hice con mi hija de 5 años y aguantó perfectamente.

Beautiful. Plenty of benches along the trail for taking in the views of the lake. Highly recommend.
