Just hiked this yesterday - fairly warm day and with rain a week ago, it was pretty humid. This is only a difficult hike if you have an aversion to climbing hills - otherwise, I would rate it more as a "moderate" hike. It's a good alternative to Bear Valley Trail if you don't want to be on a trail with scores of other hikers, cyclists, joggers, etc. We hiked for 2 hours and only passed two couples on horses. Very beautiful walking through the forest, but not a lot of panoramic views since you are below the canopy for most of the hike.

It was sooo hard! (Hiking that many miles) we thought out endurance level was great. But this trail proved us wrong. Haha. Would I do it again? No. Only if my endurance level is higher(; but the wild life on the trail was amazing. And the views were breath taking(:

Hands down one of the best places to see, super secluded and the views are spectacular. Once you get to sculptured beach you are rewarded with arches, caves, tunnels, lots of birds, whale bones and cool rock formations. My spouse and I did this with our 5 and 8 year old. Tired but we had a blast. It’s so beautiful you will not regret visiting this amazing hidden gem.

September is our summer. Easy and pleasant morning hike with clear skies and beautiful views towards Tomales Bay.

Beautiful dirt trail leading to the coast.

1 hour at medium speed. Gorgeous ferns and redwoods. Not challenging

Was recommended to this by a co worker. It was a nice scenic drive, however, when you start getting close to the lighthouse the roads aren’t great. Not terrible, but not great. Lighthouse was going through remodeling so we were only able to see from atop. Great to go and see it once, but probably won’t venture out there again. Very overcast.

Almost all flat terrain and mostly shaded. I would consider this an easy nature stroll and with the exception of the distance, it is great for all ages. Beautiful trees, ferns, and other plants everywhere! We went on Labor Day and started at 3 pm- there were many people returning from their hike but not many people starting it at that time.

beautiful trail, we did it with our 8 year old and he barely complained. More gradual incline going up Old Pine than down Meadow Trail - that can be steep. We did see lots of poison oak and stinging nettles so be careful.

Great hill, challenging climb. Really nothing to see from the top but trees and a little fog.

Beautiful hike. Left at 8:00 and got back to car around 5:30. Pay attention to trail signs, we missed the turn at Baldy so had to change hike a bit. Footing is good. Saw lots of quail. Diversity of hike was amazing from a forest to the beach.

Took the trail on a Saturday, it was a fairly busy, nice uphill climb, not too difficult.
I took the meadow trail back down, it was a easy loop even a non hiker could probably handle it.

Gorgeous hike from misty, mossy woods to the ocean, and I would recommend doing it CLOCKWISE as we did, rather than counterclockwise as is listed here. The Sky and Coastal trails were beautiful but the Woodland trail in between was poorly maintained and would have been really awful to do uphill rather than downhill as we did. Covering your legs is a must, particularly for the Woodland trail part of the hike. Accidentally took the Coastal trail back so was unable to see the Muddy Hollow trail.

Nice ride, I attempted it for the first time on my road bike, and was easy even for a non experienced rider like myself.
A group of hardcore riders passed me and were shocked the Someone would attempt the trail on that type of bicycle so it must not be too difficult.

I didn’t go to the end, I turned off on Shafter grade to visit the dam and it was really really steep with loose rocks but doable with f/b disk brakes.
Over all well worth it.

Great trail flat until you cross the road to the dam then it gets steep.

Great trail beautiful redwood trees all around, little signs around telling the history of the park. I even had a coyote run 15 feet past me on the trail. Good for kids also.

If you go by yourself there are plenty of cows to keep you company! Nice easy trail!

Nice little walk along the creek.

I love this trail! I’ll take my dog out here early in the morning on weekends for a couple hour hike. The views are consistently beautiful and the trail is moderately challenging. I haven’t hiked the whole 22 mile out and back yet, but plan to someday!
I’m looking forward to seeing how this trail changes throughout the seasons.
Watch out for ticks though!!

Easy. Classic. Lots of wildlife.

It’s a steep uphill climb if you start from Shoreline Highway (CA 1). The tall pine tree provide plenty of shade. I brought my senior dog on the hike. The climb was tough for him but downhill wasn’t too bad. Cows graze at the start of the trail.

The hike provides a sampler of the best of what Point Reyes has to offer: beautiful pine forests and meadows, sweeping coastal views, and a few beaches that are perfect lunch spots. Most of Sky trail is shaded, but Coast trail is exposed to the sun and wind. Don't miss the short round trip to Sculptured beach: if the tide is low enough, you will be able to see interesting rock formations and a small arch on the South side of the beach.

This trail has it all: a beautiful beach, mountain views (elevation gain) and plenty of wildlife. An excellent workout with perfect temperatures. Just be aware of poison oak in different parts of the many trails that comprise it (wear long pants).

Hardly anyone on this trail which is hard to find close to SF. Great trail to do with doggos but no water for them anywhere at this time of year so carry extra! A couple options along the way to leave the ridge and meet route 1 if you want a shorter hike. No ticks and a couple cows that minded their own business.

Rewarding hike with beautiful coastal vistas and the beauty of Alamere Falls waiting for you at the end. Trails are well maintained and well marked with a nice mix of shade and sun. Make sure to grab a trail map and follow it carefully. We got distracted and missed a turn that added an extra mile and a half and a strenuous climb on the Coast Trail to an already long hike. Beautiful coastal views on that little side trip though. Alamere Falls was enjoyable, if not a little crowded. Felt a bit like Disneyland with the line of tourists taking selfies there. Restrooms and water available at Wildcat Camp. Great hike !

Amazing views! We actually took the Coast Trail onto a beach that had a few caves. We hung out in a cave while watching the waves, whales, and seals. Beautiful hike the entire way to the beach. Definitely worth it. And definitely going again. Was an amazing date location!

All of the camps have potable water and are well spaced. I carried a water filter but did not need to use it.

Lake Ranch Trail is very overgrown but easily passable. No issues with ticks despite the high grass. Other trails are all very well maintained and appear to have been cut back recently.

This was a really enjoyable walk, lots of variety and overall not too difficult. Primarily shaded just the short beachfront section has little.

I went anti-clockwise to try and get down the water with reasonably early morning light. Additionally it’s always nice not to be stuck with a heavy uphill right at the end. I’d swap the short jaunt to the lake for a walk down to Alamere Falls. It’s worth a quick look but expect it to be busy.
