My family and our dog hiked this on Mother's Day. It was cool in the shade but warm in the sun, so layers were good. My kids are 8 and 11, and this was a very easy hike (I left my boots in the garage at home and did this in my husband's birks, 2 sizes too big). I will say that there are many trail junctions, so a map is necessary to know how to stay on the loop that you want.

The meadow was gorgeous and this is one of the most fragrant hikes I've been on in California (pines). We saw a handful of mountain bikers (which this trail is great for!) and a few walkers, but many long stretches alone. Overall, a very pleasant and peaceful walk.

Beautiful, sunny day today. Yellow, white, and purple wildflowers were in bloom. Ran into about a dozen people during the hike (mid-day), about 50/50 mountain bikers to hikers. Nice combination of exposed and limited shade. Very easy grade. Lots of birds - spring is in the air. Dry - bring water and chap stick. Wonderful, pine tree smell!

Fun trail, OK views. Much of the start of the trail is in direct sunlight, and can get quite hot. It was a relief to get into the wooded area, but it didn’t last long until the gnats became overwhelming. I was slightly worried as many of them gathered around my dogs eyes, and I was constantly wiping them away. We found good rest spots and a good camp spot. Saw only a few other hikers and bikers, but were alone for pretty much the whole hike.

The loop back on this grid is a road, we turned it into and out n back to sunrise highway. Beautiful scenery all throughout.

Need wilderness pass.

Enjoyable hike. With the recent rain and snow (winter months) there was a fair amount of water on the middle bend; just a little pond. Going is pretty easy, all down hill. Coming is uphill, but not steep at all. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. The open planes are always nice to see when hiking this particular area of Laguna.

Did Laguna to Pine Valley 10.5 miles. Being 64 somethings were challenging for me

We only hiked 6 miles of it, but overall a nice hike. Fairly mellow, but hot with little shade. Bring plenty of water!

Loved the hike!!! It was a beautiful day and the lake was so serene. Saw ducks, hawks and woodpeckers. Great way to start the day and it’s well marked so the loop was super easy to follow!

This was a great hike for our alternative Thanksgiving Feast. The hike is easy and a leisurely pace with plenty of stops for photos got us through the almost 6 mile loop in under 3 hours. There is a perfect picnic spot at the far end of the lake with plenty of shade and big rocks to sit on while you dine!

Top section from Laguna campground, mile marker 22.5 off Sunrise Hwy, is unreal. Los Gatos trail is super fun. Noble canyon is a butt kicker!

We only walked in for about 4 miles but it was all downhill so prepare for the way back to be all uphill! Lots of mountain bikers which was a little much for us but the variety of landscape kept us happy. Looking forward to coming back and trying the whole thing!

Starts off with a decent run. However becomes more of a bike trail and very difficult to stay a running trail. If you are hiking or riding a bike, it's nice but for running, it has a lot of obstacles.

Trail is incredible, definitely better than I am (on MTB). Don't go in July! Had 3 Liters each, still ran out of water on the round trip.

The trail isn't too difficult, but it definitely isn't easy. Rocky with a steady climb on the south end. Lots of mtn bikers, not many hikers. It was more high desert terrain & it was hot! I'd love to do this trail again, but it's on my fall/winter/spring to-do list rather than summer.

nice hike

great hike

The continuous stream of idiots on mountain bikes going down hill and taking blind turns at 40mph really detracts from the experience. With that said don't expect to see much in the way of wildlife.

We got a late start on a Monday night so we weren't able to hike the full trail. We made camp about 3 or so miles from the Pine Valley trailhead. The trail is diverse and was better than we expected. There is tree coverage in certain areas but other sections are open. It got pretty warm on our way back to the car but we were lucky to have a cool breeze. We plan to bring friends out as an intro to backpacking since this one is so easy to get to and not too strenuous.

Backpacked this trail last weekend. Started at the Noble Canyon Trailhead in Pine Valley. It was hot in Pine Valley but cooled off as I ascended. A great ascent, going from essentially desert (lots of yucca and some cactus), across the Pine Valley Creek, into oak forest, and then ultimately in pine forest. The gnats were really bad down near the water! Bring bug spray! I turned off towards the top of Noble Canyon Trail to Big Laguna Trail to camp at Laguna Mountain Campground. Camped for the weekend and then hiked back down to Pine Valley - where it was about 96 degrees! Used 2 liters of water. About 5 hours for the ascent, and 4 hours on the descent. Not too bad...considering this was essentially my first backpacking experiencing in 25 years, and carrying a 40-lb. pack! :)

Walked this trail after the last snow of the season. Narrow rail was rutted from foot traffic and mountain bikers.

Dog-friendly. Easy loop. Print your trail guide at home. Areas of no cell service, follow the trail or wander off.
