Excellent trail, plenty of parking space on the pine valley trailhead but don’t forget your adventure pass in the general store right as you enter pine valley! Great place for a solitude getaway, with plenty of spots to lay a tent down if an overnighter is your thing, like myself. Not much of a water source in mid October so bring water. And be sure to be mindful of where you leave your food for there were mountain lions all over at night. Just the trail I was looking for.

Just did this hike on Saturday and the creek is bone dry. No falls, no water, not even a tiny little stream. Overall it’s s relatively easy hike with nice foliage and breeze. If you feel like going further past the falls you can continue on this part of the PCT onward to Mt Laguna where there are random spots to camp. We bumped into a few people carrying packs and they were doing a quick weekend trip. Will likely come back to give that a try.

Nice hike. Lots of people hikers, runners, & bikers. Great views lots of birds and lazy cows.

Good hike up to the lake/pond. There was a lot of groups of mountain bikers. We went counter clockwise and the second half of the trail didn't allow mountain bikes so it was a bit calmer. Great views up to Cuyamaca.

A great hike for the early morning. The views are spectacular. You'll meet only a few people along the trail. I went on Labor day and only saw about 6 people. I started the hike at 7am and had the summit all to myself for a good 45 minutes. There is loose rock along the trail so good hiking shoes are a must. There is no parking pass needed, just park right in front of the trail head on the side of the road which has a metal bar across it. Dogs are allowed so pack up your pup and have an adventure. The morning sunrise makes it so that you're in the shade on the way up, but definitely take a hat and plenty of water in warm months because there is NO shade whatsoever when the sun's out.

Definitely more easy than moderate. My athletic 7yo was able to do this ride so it can’t be too difficult. Hill on the way out was the biggest challenge. Great trail though, we all had a blast!

It was a very nice, relatively quick hike, and the views at the top were very impressive. I would point out that the trail has potentially-ankle-twisting loose rocks in the final half-mile towards the top. Given that, my family rates the first half easy and the second half moderate. Great time nonetheless.

This hike was nice! We went up Big Laguna Trail and down Sunset Trail. I would’ve been easier had we went up Sunset Trail & down to Big Laguna Trail. Luckily we didn’t encounter any snakes but I know there are some around the area. View on Sunset Trail is beautiful and the meadow on Big Laguna Trail is also beautiful. I’d do this trail again. We went on a Sunday around noon and saw quite a few bikers and hikers.

Very enjoyable hike. Wildflowers, butterflies, interesting bugs. Absolutely no one else on the trail on a weekday afternoon, so nice and isolated feeling. I wanted to stay and enjoy the incredible 360° view from the very top, but it was so incredibly windy, I thought I would be blown off the side of the mountain. Gorgeous.

many of the paths are closed and don't even connect....but I made it work and had a great time! bring plenty of water, I also saw a lot of mountain bikers.

This is by far probably one of my favorite hikes! The view from the peak is just spectacular! We hiked it later in the day in the heat so we had the trail and peak to ourselves. There is little to no shade on this trail so if you plan on hiking during the warmer months be sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen, a hat, and clothing to help shield you from the sun. It is a fairly short trail and the elevation gain is minimal making this an easy trail. The trail intersects with the PCT about 0.6 miles in so you can add more mileage to your hike if you choose. There are no bathrooms near the trailhead, but the visitor center isn't too far down the road. Saw lots of lizards, butterflies, dragonflies, and birds - did not see any snakes but I'm sure there were some around given the terrain.

Cool lil trail but as of July 7 it is bone dry.

i love the laguna area. especially this pct stretch up there. no where else in the county you can get the full appreciation of forested green mountain tops, with sweeping panoramic views tailing into the desert. go during a high pressure system because you can see clear across the salton sea to the chocolate mountains east of he city of pope. bring water and food, shelter too because you may not want to come down from there.

Awesome hike. Took my kite with me to fly at the peak. Beautiful location. No shade so hat is recommended.

Beautiful views!

We took about an hour hiking up and what a view!! Well worth the walk. It was a bit rocky once the grade began, but nothing onerous. Take plenty of water!

nice trail
kinda hard to find
had to use a website to find the beginning
and got lost several times
the service trail for the power pole mix in with the trail

REMEMBER GO LEFT AT THE T
but the stream was nice and cool and dogs loved it

ALSO A RATTLESNAKE LIVES UP IN THE SMALL CAVE ABOVE THE STREAM/WATERFALL
be careful with children or dogs or anyone

but it was a nice view on a positive note

It as mid 90's by the time we got going. We took lots of water, but only made it to about 200 yards beyond the big rock. My sweetie can't take the heat and altitude. She had the drumming heartbeat and had to stop to rest often. I guess you can't beat youth. We're on the high side of 60. Lots of wildflowers. Not a lot of water in the creek. A younger couple told us that the 'falls' were pretty weak. If you're going to hike this trail at this time of year, start early.

Did this with my dog over memorial day weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the solitude. Nice hike for both me and the pup - a few streams along the way she drank from helped me conserve water. I setup my hammock in multiple places for nice stops plus my overnight camp. Would do this again!

Muy Buen lugar me parecio medio tirandole a duro (hard) pero tienen preguntas de cual quier cosa desde permiso les dejo mi email con toda confianza dither_bm@yahoo.com

Entertaining trail! I don’t think it’s really hard, my wife enjoyed it as well and she’s newer to hiking. Good first “Hard” trail to complete. Beautiful views though Lots of mountain bikers on very narrow trails, who caught us of guard pretty often. Nothing really exciting at the turn around point, it’s really just an intersection of different hike. Overall, I enjoyed the hike!

Hiked this yesterday, but from a different starting point. Not a lot of water left, but the wildflowers are pretty gorgeous out there right now. I left wanting so much more of the PCT!

Beautiful, sunny day today. Yellow, white, and purple wildflowers were in bloom. Ran into about a dozen people during the hike (mid-day), about 50/50 mountain bikers to hikers. Nice combination of exposed and limited shade. Very easy grade. Lots of birds - spring is in the air. Dry - bring water and chap stick. Wonderful, pine tree smell!

Fun trail, OK views. Much of the start of the trail is in direct sunlight, and can get quite hot. It was a relief to get into the wooded area, but it didn’t last long until the gnats became overwhelming. I was slightly worried as many of them gathered around my dogs eyes, and I was constantly wiping them away. We found good rest spots and a good camp spot. Saw only a few other hikers and bikers, but were alone for pretty much the whole hike.

I stumbled upon this trail by accident and am glad I did. The view at the top is incredible and the trail itself is very quiet. It’s windy at the top so bring a lightweight jacket.

Beautiful views, I wish they had a sign that directed you to the waterfall, I missed the split trail and ended in in the freeway in Campo. Next time I know!

A fairly well maintained path for how narrow it is. Saw some sdg&e employees on our way back up. plenty of exploring around the falls area, we went in early April to find a considerably verdant creek bed and clean stream.

Pretty easy trail, for the last part we walked over the rocks to get a pod view of the falls, was great but not spectacular.

I really enjoyed this trail along with the pups.
