The pictures are a little deceiving. A lot of the flowers aren’t blooming but besides that it is very beautiful. The movie scene is very cool and the fields are very relaxing. Make sure you go left first it’s a easier way down.

Beautiful views of the meadow and river. No shade so best to go when it's cooler out or a breeze flowing through. Also, different trails you can branch off to

Love any trail in Cronan Ranch! This one has beautiful hills and views! The wildflowers are in full bloom, and plenty of greenery to see! Trails are always maintained and it’s nice that they are easily marked so you can hop onto the next trail and know where you still are! Take the trail going downhill if your not looking for a super workout! Even when the Parking lot was packed we didn’t see anyone else until we took a detour down to the river! So glad they are open during quarantine!

This is a very relaxing trail. Lots of different options of ways to go. Lots of little spots on the river that are perfect. Perfect trail for a cool day. Do not go on this trail when it’s hot in sac. Best take a leash for your dog, fun to let your dog in and use leash as lead to get in the river.

Wildflowers are still in bloom. Parking lot full plus road but we could easily socially distance ourselves. Take the up down trail from the back of the loop back to front for a great uphill workout

Super gorgeous trail! Practically no shade except for a few spots if you want to stop and rest. I personally wouldn’t do this hike if it’s 70° or warmer. The dogs had a really good time and loved stopping at the river. We didn’t run into many people either!

Great loop! Lots of parking, beautiful green hills and many wildflowers right now, plus some good river points. Not a lot of shade. Definitely recommended.

Great trail. We started off gerle the wrong way but had a great walk down by the water to start the hike. Beautiful terrain and plenty of shade and not a lot of bugs or other hikers. There are a lot of trails to explore. There was a lot of poison oak though

Beautiful trail with lots of wildflowers and great views of the valley. Trail leads to the American River, a great spot to have lunch and watch kayakers. Trail is well-maintained and wide open. Perfect spring hike, summer would be very hot, shade is sparse. Parking free but pretty full by 11 AM.

It was really pretty! (river access, restrooms, some shade, hills, lots of wildflower, many comfortable benches with amazing scenery+ geocaching too! ). It's best to get there early for parking, lots of people start coming in at 9. Also, the morning is breezy and air smells more crisp. Go off trail and take the Sky Ridge for an amazing top view while sitting on a bench.

Didn’t quite make it to the end. Took a side trail to the river about 7 miles in and decided to turn back after resting next to the river. The hike back was definitely the hardest part; I was completely drained the last mile. I would definitely recommend this trail to experienced hikers only. Very beautiful scenery though. Oh and also the parking lot is closed probably due to Covid-19. You can park on the side of the road either just before or just after the parking lot.

Beautiful and peaceful. Wildflowers, river, rolling hills.....no shade.

It’s really beautiful out this time of year. I loved all of the connecting trails but beware there is poison oak almost everywhere. This is a great trail to do on a cooler day because there is no shade cover. I would definitely come back!

I recommend taking a few of the off trails to see the spring and the river areas. Plenty of restrooms.

Beautiful but NO SHADE

April 2020 there is parking outside the gated off parking lot. We went on a Thursday and the ‘sub’ parking lot area was pretty full. Note, West ridge trail starts with about a mile of uphill. Gorgeous views! We started our ride about 2 hours before dusk and the hills provided plenty of shade. Nice challenge for beginners. Horse trailer parking was closed, so we didn’t see horses on the trail today. We will definitely be back. Mosquitos were out in full force by dusk and in shaded areas.

Great hike - definitely a perfect spring hike with the hills a lovely shade of green and lots of colorful wildflowers along the trail. Big bushes of poison oak, but none on the trail. Lunch at Satans Cesspool was nice but not much shade. There is a small protected part of river that you could swim in, but we didn’t. Lots of well marked trails, in good shape.

What a beautiful trail! Mostly open & sunny throughout, but there is a stretch of downhill that is shaded. The poppies & lupines are magical this time of year! A good amount of steep uphill for a few stretches & moderate in difficulty, but nothing crazy. We saw 3 rattlesnakes on & around the trail so be on the look out.

Gorgeous trail, nice beautiful hills, I would do it again. Plenty of bathrooms on the trail near the creek. Go early not much shade.

Really nice trail. Most is open although there is part that has more cover. Wildflowers were out in outrageous quantities including California Poppies.
