By far one of my favorite trails at the Pinnacles. It’s less traveled than high peaks but has amazing views. The incline is steady but isn’t that bad until you hit the last part of the trail, then it gets pretty steep. The views are totally worth it! This hike is best done in the winter, spring or fall. In the summer it is either really hot or the morning fog lingers which can prevent you from enjoying the views.

Pack water. Start early. Take your time going back down. Great picnic spots at the higher elevations. You’ll know when you get there. We had a phallic rock spotting contest. It was a hoot. Legs are tired.

Did this yesterday over Memorial Day weekend. It was great. Very flat besides the loop which was not too much elevation. The caves were awesome.

Absolutely breathtaking, being beautiful and harder but completely worth it.

Climb not too bad. Amazing views. And we saw three condors!!!!

Amazing hike, one of the best I’ve been to. Very exhausting on the hot day, make sure to get enough water and snacks.

Leisure, picturesque walk that leads to spectacular rock formations that are so fun to venture around in. Enjoy the dark cave that you lower yourself down into, through damp boulders, to find the hidden natural spring.

This trail was part of our 12.5 miles loop, a pleasant hike with shades and tranquil with birds, wild flower, small creek along the trail.

awesome! This section is part of our 12.5 loop trail with spectacular views of valleys and meadows. Moderate hike.

A great hike that doesn’t take all day but have some fun qualities. The cave was a great part of the hike.

Beautiful hike. Took us about 3 hours with generous breaks in between. Steep and narrow trail had rocky stairs that were cool to climb. Saw plentiful amount of California condors and turkey vultures!

Two friends flew in for a 45 minute visit at the top. Mating pair of condors. Incredible experience.

Pinnacles never disappoints! We went a little farther down to South chalone peak which was good to get some more distance but not much to see down there! North chalone peak was gorgeous!

A little more strenuous than anticipated. Great way to see California Condors!

Nice trail with beautiful vistas. Up close to two Condors (236 & 340) warming themselves in the early morning sun; 15 feet off the trail.

Get there early to get parking and on the trail before it gets busy.

Saw a BIG Bobcat just off the road as we left the Chaparral Parking area. Great day.

Lots of other trails to explore next time.

Tough. Don’t do this hike in 90-100 degree weather. Bad mistake. Lol!

started at Chaparral parking lot and ran up to high peaks via Juniper Canyon. Then made my way down and up ro North Chalone Peak. After a rest went on to South Chalone Peak. trails are in excellent condition. Made my way back and down to Bear Gulch and up to Condor Canyon. Finally went back down via high peaks trail. 19 mile with over 5,400ft of elevation gain. Just beautiful!

We were told at the check in desk “no, you don’t want to do this hike”. It was apparently based on our apparent age! We ignored the “suggestion” and completed the high peaks trail and the caves. Challenging, but worth every step.

pretty cool trail, but fairly exposed.

This is a tough hike! The first few miles are the hardest part as it's all uphill until you get to the peaks. The views are beautiful, so the trek is definitely worth it. The rest is downhill or flat until you get to the Balconies caves, which was a nice break from the hot sun. They rock formations within the caves were insane and was a good way to end the hike. I definitely recommend bringing a lot of water and bug spray. We had flies swarming us for the majority of the hike.

I arrived the trailhead around 8:30am on Sunday and only two cars in the parking lot.
This trail is described as a 'lollipop' in the park guide and the sweetest spot is definitely the cave!
The first part of the trail is kind of boring and I was wondering how come this was promoted to a national park. After entering the cave, I was confused and thought it's a dead end but finally figured out after tried all the possible directions.
The overall experience is awesome and definitely worth a try.

Did this hike yesterday and loved it! It was not difficult, mostly flat and about 5 miles long but the cave was fun and more difficult to get through with some rocky areas!

I would recommend this hike to someone but would prefer to explore other trails in this park when I go back!
