Très jolie balade à 30 min de San Francisco. Dommage d’avoir à longer la route en fin de promenade.

My favorite evening/sunset trail. There's a lot of steep, rocky areas to scramble up so I wouldn't recommend this trail if it rained recently. Beautiful views and not too heavily trafficked (although it's usually empty around sunset).

Nice trail. Easy to moderate areas. Really small parking lot, but other lot near the hotel and beach. Lots of tall grassy areas so watch out for ticks. When we got home, I found a tick on me and in my dog's armpit.

Very easy hike w amazing coastal views

Part of the loop trail is right next to the road where cars zooming by, which makes the last 5 minutes of our hike unpleasant. Otherwise, good view, nice combination of terrain, and perfect distance for a quick hike.

Definitely not a hard hike! It has some legs that are uphill but apart from that it’s pretty easy. The hike has some insane views when it gets near the ocean. Highly recommend it!

Nice beach w trails

Easy to moderate hike with great views. Various steep hill paths that can make this more challenging.

Easy hike for kids and being dog friendly is a huge bonus.
Views are gorgeous. Parking is busy but didn’t have to wait long (came around 3 pm on gorgeous Saturday)
Easy access to additional trails

I wouldn't call this a trail. More like a climb on a cliff among slippery rocks. nice views but not at all a hike.

Found parking difficult, probably because of the beach. Nice trail though and only a few other pups which is good for our not so good pup. It’s also very narrow and exposed so bring sunscreen and water.

Fun! User/Unmarked trails make it a harder hike.

Just did the loop a long timw ago...

Absolutely beautiful views! There were many amazing viewpoints, especially on the Old Colma Bicycle Route (the 0.8 mile out-and-back part near the water). The area hike was surprisingly varied. Most of the hike was relatively easy, but the switchbacks on Old Colma, and the last 1.5 miles down the Boyscout were more challenging. If you want to make this a moderate difficulty hike, do it as an out and back instead of a loop! The trail is really only ~7 miles, since you can easily walk back to your car along Higgens Way (the street).

Easy hike with nice views. Parking and beach access available at both ends. No restrooms.

very short trail a bit of hill in the beginning and at the turn around but nothing too crazy. the biggest thing is that the parking lot is not to the South of the restaurant as is mentioned in the description but actually to the North. Additionality, the start finish parking lot recommended here is a bit small so I recommend parking at the larger lot at Gray Whale Cove then hiking south to Montara opposed to starting at Montara and hiking north to Gray Whale Cove.

Nice view along the trail. Easy walk most of the way. Most of the trail is quite exposed, so make sure wear sunscreen. The trail is probably more suited for cooler days (like winter), I imagine it’d be too hot and too exposed for hot summer days.

Fun and beautiful.

Nice paved walk and unpaved walk as well. Awesome views

CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES! This is a beautiful hike that I take my pup on. Today my dad joined us and we went all the way to the top and he got a sharp pain. We checked his shoe and there was nothing. He kept going and the pain continued. Later we found the piece of glass that went sideways into his shoe and was stabbing him. We all like to have a good time but please clean your stuff up and pack it out (it’s even lighter than when you carried it full)

So sad, this is a beautiful hike with amazing views that I highly recommend. Just wanted to give a heads up to fellow hikers.

Beautiful views

This trail has STUNNING views! Whales were breaching just off the coast. The trails has gentle slopes (where not flat) after a slight incline out of the parking area. The first section of the trail can be dense with vegetation, including poison oak; walking single file and carefully is key. Shortly after beginning the trail widens and wildflowers line the trails.

Really enjoyed this hike. I've been wanting some ocean views and this delivered. The trail is very busy, lots of dog walkers and couples. This didn't distract though, the views are top notch. It's mostly fire road and dirt trails. Some areas are not maintained but there are clear trails to follow though. For places with steep inclines there is often a side route that's easier. You can take the hard way or wind around. Definitely recommended as an easy/moderate trail because you can customize the experience. I went at 11 on a Saturday and had no problems parking. I parked on a side street near the golf course. It was late October so it was chilly near the ocean, then warmed up as my body got going up the inclines. Layer and bring sunscreen because there is very little cover.

I was looking for an easy hike for a girl's trip and this did not disappoint! Accessible for everyone's skill level and beautiful views. We were fortunate enough to see a few whales from the bench lookout and several bunnies along the way. Highly recommend for all levels!

A beautiful place for a day-long getaway. Parking is a challenge. I started the hike from the Pier where the restrooms are located and one can also buy a snack, coffee, or water from the Chit Chat Cafe.

Easy to locate. I found parking around 10am at Rockaway Beach, although the lot was getting full quickly. Part of the trail along the coast is steep and narrow-would rate as moderate vs. easy. Wear shoes with good grip! Brought my dog and boyfriend, tired them both out! We will be back again!

Easy to find and navigate. Brought my dog and boyfriend and we all had great time. Being close to Half Moon Bay, we refueled at Sam's Chowder house where dogs are allowed on the patio. We will be back again and will attempt the harder trails nearby!

Nice but very steep at some points- great views throughout the whole hike
