Good to walk :)

trail was fine. lots of traffic and the parking lot was atrocious. once you got on the trail it was fine though. self guided tour was pretty cool also. this is a super easy introductory hike. take your friends who don't hike kind of hike.

Short and to the point, this trail was an easy one and if you take the effort to drive up to the grove, you may as well walk the whole loop. Tons of beautiful trees and not a lot of people, as we went later in the afternoon when visitors were few and the light was perfect. Would highly recommend it if you’re in the area.

Quick and easy, but good way to get a look at a bunch of redwoods. Weather was pleasant, trail was shady. Parking wasn’t ideal, lot was pretty consistently full but we just created our own spot.

Hiked in the late afternoon. Lighting amongst the towering redwoods was spectacular. Very few people there at that time.

added the revelation trail to make it about a mile.

Easy hike, but very nice. We took the foothill trail out and joined the Cathedral trail back to the visitor’s center. We only had a short time in the forest, but I was so glad we got to hike!

I love getting to see the great trees—perfect little walk from the visitor’s center!

Love this to take friends who can’t walk far. Loop trail goes through quiet green forest with ferns, creeklets, and yes Big trees.

Number one favorite trail to take non hikers so they can still get a sense of walking through the majestic giant Redwoods. Beautifully maintained. Crowded in summer. Pit toilets at parking.

good hike this one, and seldom used compared to others , and this the one that can kick your butt lol so fun .. great mix of everything , creeks , ridges ,has it all

good trail , bit more rugged than rest the park , more diverse forests as well .. every trail in the park is awesome can't go wrong , link em together long , short just get out there

this trail puts u right in the heart of some amazing stands of some the last old growth redwoods left in the world .. worth a view

great warm up or beginner trail , or for older folks and kids .. or those family memebers who arent supoer into the woods lol .. get out here they'll fall in love .. very easy trail , well maintained with lots to see and enjoy

It is an easy walk for all abilities. The trees were not as big as we expected as this is not one of those forests. It was not crowded as we only saw two other people when we hiked it, on a Friday afternoon. We hiked the Boy Scout Tree Trail the next day. That trail is much more impressive!

Super short and easy walk through some old growth. Great if you don’t have a ton of time!

Beautiful little hike and a good taste of Redwood National Parks. But there are much better trails to see!

Great walk through a magical place. Walked with 3 little ones who loved the informative brochure that you can borrow at the beginning of the hike.

Big Tree in 2012 [not sure if they change this periodically] - 304 ft. high, 21.6 ft. in diameter, 68 feet in circumference, and over 1500 years old... nice flat walking trail that starts and ends at the BIG tree.

My wife and I hiked this trail on 5-3-18 starting from the ranger center to Fern Canyon. The flowers were bloming and the weather was perfect. If you start at the ranger center beware this is NOT 4.2 miles as the sign says, it is 6 miles to Fern Canyon!!!! So it is 13 miles to the ocean view, in Fern Canyon and back to the ranger station. The hike is everything you want from large Redwoods, streams, Fern Canyon and the ocean. Enjoy!

Walked this in Feb. 2017. Lots of big trees and ferns. Nothing bad to say. This is a walk most people can do.

This is a very nice trail. We hit it just right, there were thousands of trillium lining the trail. Saw millipedes and red snails, which we haven't seen in the park yet. The trails were in good shape. The West Ridge Trail is always scenic and this segment of it is in better shape that the one from Zig Zag #1 down to the park headquarters.

loved the beach access. Didnt see a soul.

Beautiful trail. Fortunate with sunny weather.
Started at James Irvine trail head (which is next to the visitor center) to Fern Canyon. Then took Clintonia Trail which connects back to James Irvine - probably 11-12 miles. Trail is well kept, beautiful redwood, ferns, wild flowers and birds. Fern Canyon is a must for anyone visiting the area - it is just beautiful. Expect to cross very shallow creek few times in the Fern Canyon.
Entire trail very quiet, loved the solitude. Only 4 other hikers for the entire hike.

Walked it today in the rain with 4 little kids. It was so peaceful and the kids had a blast going inside of trees!

Visited in September of 2015. Beautiful for a nice easy stroll through these amazing trees. Perfect for all ages and skill levels. I’d definitely recommend grabbing one of the info brochures to read about the history and interesting facts. Overall, an easy way to experience the redwoods and honor one of the great women in our country’s history!

Beautiful and easy hike through the Redwoods, birds singing, not much traffic until it connects to Big Tree.
