May 2020 Most of trail is overgrown with vegetation. Not much to see except at very beginning. Would not do again.

Great long hike. Went in late May. Weather was great but not much sunshine so once my shirt got soaked with sweat it got cold if I ever stopped. Best part is the beginning with the bridge, sound of the water and the majestic trees

Nice hike

I recommend being very aware of your surroundings. Black bears are very dense in the area. I hiked this in the morning and was the only person on the trail when I came across a black bear in the lower portion. While I wasn’t able to finish this trail, it was much better than the loop alone. Pretty steep, especially when you’re speed walking up the trail lol.

You will definitely get wet at fern canyon. If that’s concerning, maybe start on that end.

Amazing

Lush and awe inspiring! Towering ferns, watrer dripping off the sides, and the stream going strong.

Beautiful walk through the woods. Another Redwood gem!

Wife and I hiked this all the way to the coast. Went here because we thought it was the deepest, darkest redwood forest around. Saw elk everywhere. Lived the otherworldliness of it. Definitely go!

Beautiful, easy hike

My favorite trail! Absolutely gorgeous and easy to walk.

Beautiful hike but the mileage is off. By counting mileage from the park signs I estimated this hike at 7.2 or 7.3 miles rather than the 5.9 listed. The trail is super uneven in sections to the point where its maddening, one foot is on a totally different elevation than the other for a lot of the time, so watch out if you have knee issues, especially if you wear a weighted pack like me when I do this hike for training purposes. Also....exposed tree roots. Lots of them. And slick too. Other than that a great hike, but definitely challenging in its own way!

Nice trail that could be extended with Hidden beach. Great for hiking with children.

Always a family favorite! Since it’s winter the wooden walkways weren’t out. I recommend wearing rain boots. You are guaranteed to have wet shoes on your hike out. Beautiful easy hike. And we saw the some big elk!

The hike to and from the overlook is the easiest part. Pretty much all the 1300+ ft elevation change occurs in the 2.5ish miles ascent-descent-ascent to and from the beach. Prepare to sweat! Lovely trail though to a really secluded beach. Lots of downed trees, one you have to crawl under on the way to the beach.

Hiked on 2/17 and loved the trail! Lush, green, beautiful trail which was mostly unobstructed. The sign at the trail says it’s ~10.5 miles RT to the beach, but it’s definitely more like 7.4 as this page indicates. There is a beach view at about 2 miles in, but it’s not the greatest. I highly recommend going all the way to the beach—and bringing a picnic lunch or something to enjoy while you’re there basking in the sun.

Great, easy trail with wonderful big trees.

Rolling loop w beautiful views, several benches along the trail and well marked signs.

just getting to the trail was an adventure. I cannot imagine movie crews navigating that narrow dusty road. My appreciation for Jurassic Park movies made this a "must see", since we were somewhat close. It was worth the stop !

Beatiful Views. You can find Woods and praire on the same trail. We did it with rain and it was even more adventurous. I totally recomend it.

Gorgeous, serene hike through the redwoods. Lots of down trees but not impassable. If you have time and energy definitely continue past the overlook to the beach. Even on a pretty Saturday I had the entire coast to myself.

gorgeous hike. adapted it by hiking the Fern Canyon trail from Prairie Creek TH, then took the beach access road to where it meets Miner Ridge and took that back. Good conditions, a little mud in some spots but all in all fantastic hike
