20200529: Lower portion of the trail is buried, but wanded for easy navigation. Middle portion is mostly melted out. Upper section still mostly covered, but wanded. Still good coverage on SE face with manageable sun cups for those looking for warm weather turns.

A very leisurely walk around the lake. Fish were jumping and the views of the mountain are stunning. Good family walk

My friends and I enjoyed camping at Eiler Lake over Memorial Day weekend. There are lots of downed trees, especially if you go to the north side of Eiler Lake. There were lots of great campsites along the south side of the lake. There was only one other group camped on the north side, and we got great views of the snow capped peaks. We day hiked down to Barrett Lake, but we couldn’t make it to Durbin Lake as the trail between Barrett and Durbin was flooded with basically a pond this early in the season. The directions from All Trails didn’t take us to the actual trailhead, but we were able to find the trail eventually. This was a nice option without crowds, and I think the wildflowers will really be blooming in the next few weeks. We only saw some violets and buttercups this early. Also saw some cute little snakes in the water. I bet this lake would be great for swimming when it warms up! I’d definitely choose to stay at Eiler over Barrett since Eiler is larger and had more campsites to choose from.

cool trail. the directions take you somewhere other than the trailhead. but you can still get to the trail just park on SPI land. trail is pretty easy but lots of downed trees you must climb over.

More of a walk/stroll than a hike, and I would not go out of my way to come here just for sight-seeing UNLESS I was going to snorkel in the lake . . .

I've done this hike too many times to count, having grown up in the Lake Almanor area. Some of my favorite memories are moonlight hikes with hot chocolate to look forward to at the top; large groups of friends or church friends playing guitar at the peak. The views along the drive to the beginning of the hike also add a lot to the experience. Bring a jacket; the top is usually pretty darn cold. If you start hiking later in the day, bring a headlamp just in case it takes you longer than you anticipated. Fun fact -- Mt. Lassen is the largest plug-dome volcano in the world! And if it erupts while you're ordering at Pine Shack Frosty, you get your order free!

Unfortunately, the vegetation on this entire hike and most of the lake were destroyed by the fire in 2014. Not much green. I wouldn’t recommend as a day hike at all, although for backpacking it wasn’t the worst. I just love my green pine trees. Bugs were so thick! Wear spray!

Short, steep, and sweet. Completed August 2018

Pretty unimpressed with the “boiling lake”. Hard to be too dissatisfied in such a beautiful area and no hike around here is a waste of time but was definitely expecting much more from the lake.

Went with a friend awhile back. Super spontaneous trip, but totally worth it. Didn’t get to finish, but we did see a badger (?) type creature on our trek! Also didn’t know it at the time but my friend was tripping on acid so he had an extra great time. 10/10 recommend.

This was a great trail. There was some snow and ice in some parts. The altitude can get to you if your not use to it, but there plenty of spots to rest along the way. Panoramic views at the top, well worth the hike.

Hiked this on 11/16. It was a gorgeous day with the right amount of Sun and breeze. Very well laid out trail with lots of switch backs all the way up until 0.2 miles away. Steady climb from the word go. The elevation gain in just 2 miles is what makes it hard but definitely doable. The views were spectacular all way along which makes us enjoy the breaks. Got a great view of snow clad Mt Shasta from the Summit. Great hike overall!

Beautiful views, trail isn’t so steep that I needed trekking poles, and I had knee surgery two years ago. It’s windy and icy at the top, and I actually got a little lost trying to get to the summit.

I did this hike on 11/17/2019. Lassen Peak isn’t easy hike because a lot of elevation changes, Only a little over 5 miles RT. But it starts from 8,363 to 10,321 feet, each of the mile is 1,000 feet. Good workout.... trail is so nice, well maker, very detail,(thank to Lassen park). Spectacular, panoramic, uninterrupted view. Up only haft mile, I’m able to see 3 lakes,(Helen lake, Jupiter lake, and one more but I don’t know the name of this lake). Up one mile, I’m able to see Cinder Cone. Mile and a half up, I’m able to see Lava bed, And up to the top of Lassen peak,I’m able to see Mount Shasta. On the way down,I’m able to see sunset in Lassen National Park. Love this trip a lot. I will come back to Lassen Volcanic for different hikes.

Easy, short trail with a small, serene lake at the end. There’s a tiny climb at the beginning and then basically flat for the rest until you get to the lake. You can continue on to other parts of the park from here or turn back around to the parking lot.

Really great quick hike where you can walk alongside the waterfall on the steep way back. I was in a bit of a rush, and did the whole loop in exactly an hour.

Me and my boyfriend did this hike on Veterans Day 2019. The elevation gain was gradual and then near the peak it was rocky (lots of loose rock and rubble). But it's accurate what the reviews say. I would definitely rate this a high difficulty trail because of the switchbacks and elevation gain of a little less than 2,000 ft. The views were amazing we reached the top at right around sunset. We were last to start climbing up, and we were the last to make it down. We had a headlamp handy. Be sure to have hiking poles or a headlamp in hand when doing this hike during the later hours! Hope you all enjoy the hike!

Hiked 11/10/19. It was work the whole way up. Not many flat spots. Three days later and my calves still burn. A lot of switchbacks but the view from the top is totally worth it!

My Nephew and I hiked to the summit for Veterans Day 2019 to honor our veteran family members and shake hands with heaven. At a starting altitude of 8500ft the second mile was challenging but after awhile my body acclimated to it. I’ve done many with more elevation gain but with a lower starting and finishing altitude. Great views and memorable day. Just be careful and plan where you are planting your foot or trekking poles I can be slippery
