No actual trail, a short walk from the parking lot gets you up close with the mudpots. Educational experience for the kids and adults too. Due to Bumpass Hell being closed for repairs this short walk has a great alternative to seeing the mudpots in the area. Easy enough for kids and even witnessed a person in a wheelchair doing the walkway. The sulfur smell isn’t as bad as some say and didn’t bother me, but bothered my husband. Great short walk and would definitely return again in the future

‘Cute’ may not be the best description of a trail, but thats what I kept thinking every time we got to hike across a stream or through a meadow. Great variety of terrain. We forked left then took the one way climb back up. I’d recommend waterproof shoes & trekking poles did come in handy.

Short, but Steep hike and the altitude defiantly adds to the challenge. We hiked in Mid-June and still had snow to contend with. The lake was beautiful as it had not completely thawed.

I had an outstanding time at Lassen. There were only a handful of people in the park it seemed all morning. So peaceful! I decided to take a lap around the lake and get some shots after I finished Mill Creek

It is no Iguazú or Niagara or Yosemite falls but it is worth the short 1.5 mile hike to get there.

Nice walk there; birds, chipmunks some lizards..

Dogs ARE NOT allowed on this trail-nor in Lassen Park on ANY trail. So don’t plan on bringing the four legged critters on this on. A short hike, definitely steep but wouldn’t rate it as hard!

Backpacked this trail 5/31-6/2, but we went to Snag Lake then came back to Rainbow and finished the loop it adds about 7 more miles, so 17 miles total but very worth it! Snag Lake was the most gorgeous lake of then all. very nice! My favorite backpacking trip so far. The area around and on Cluster Lakes are all burnt down so becareful of deadfall if you plan on camping there. I say have nothing bad to say about this trail you pass 10 different lakes and a few unnamed ones plus countless ponds, the only thing i disliked was not having a campfire, but i do understand why seeing all the brunt areas. Very gorgeous hike definitely do this one again.

Tons of bugs on this easy hike around the lake but you right by water so it’s to be expected. Definitely make sure you were bug deterrent before going. Lake was peaceful and beautiful with ducks floating all over and some people fishing of the side and on the lake. Super easy hike. More for picture moments than anything. Lassen Peak was right behind still with smoke on its peak and looked beautiful reflecting off the water.

Very easy hike with some amazing views of Chaos Crag and Lassen Peak!!

The trailhead is not clearly marked so you would have to use the map to find out where it is. The entrance to the trailhead was covered with snow and following the trail was difficult but we were able to track it with the yellow-marked trees. We encountered some switchbacks along the way, but the views of the falls was worth it!!

Heading back you can take the alternate route to the trailhead via the ‘Cascades’ trail, which are a set of stone stairs that leads up to the main trailhead. Kind of steep and I had to stop to take a few deep breaths but was a good route to take regardless and a little bit shorter.

We visited Lassen on a beautiful clear day and walked down to Manzanita Lake from the Visitor Center. The views of Lassen Peak are spectacular from the lake, it's quiet and you can hear fish jump out of the water. There were fisherman and campers enjoying the cool breeze off the water on an otherwise pretty hot day. The hike around the lake is easy and maybe a three, but adding the views, it's a four.

As others have mentioned, this is a walk near the parking area with some nice informative exhibits and an up close and personal taste [and smell] of volcanic mud pots and ecosystem impacts. Worth a stop.

A great forest hike through the pines of Lassen. The trail weaves through the woods and crosses streams. I was hoping that the apex of the trail would yield great views and a nice spot for lunch. However, the trails just sort of ends into a meadow. (Though the meadow is quite beautiful.) A great hike if you're looking to be amongst nature, though other trails in the park have much better views of Lassen and the surrounding area. (Hike was done in August 2017)

10/14/2017 We started out at the Ranger Station at about 830 in the morning. Nice and Chilly. Two adults and a 5 almost 6 year old. The adults packed all in and the kiddo packed her own water and sleep wear. Just one over night at Lower Twin Lake. The hike itself wasn't horrible. It was easy to moderate the majority of the way. Minimal complaints from the young one going in. More going out as there are two good sizes grades coming back out. Short though. Overall the was good. Not too bad for a day hike or evening packing in for a few days. Camping for Upper and Lower Twin lakes are decent. The East side of the lakes are best and more flat. The west side not so much. Plus in the evening when it cools down you'll have the sun for warmth much later than the west side. Overall, it was beautiful.

We hiked the horse trail as the creekside trail was closed. Will definitely go back to hike the creekside trail. We went in early October and it was pretty chilly and windy.

We did this Trail clockwise to get through the burned area first. About a mile and a half in you start in the hiking in the burned out area and it last for about 4 miles ( the Junction with PCT). We set up camp at lower Twin Lakes. In the morning we hiked out the remainder of the trail which is very beautiful.

Easy hike for a sunday morning with great views

It was great for my first backpacking trip, we stayed 2 nights, one at lower twin lake and then silver lake. Good weather and a well maintained trail.

Great walking trail around the lake, and convenient to the Campgrounds. Wonderful views of Lassen Peak, and the trail has places you can sit and enjoy the view. Good for all ages, and lots of shade!

Nice hike to the falls. Beautiful waterfall.

A great trail for my first time in lassen national park! The falls were beautiful, and the hike to sifford lake is so pretty and quiet, we saw maybe a half a dozen people from kings creek falls to sifford lake. Bench lake was almost dried up. Will definitely do this hike again! Took about 2 and a half hours with stops at the Falls and lakes.

Sweet little spot for being just off the road!

A lot of uphill, the trail is currently under construction so you have to take a detour that makes the trail approximately .3 miles longer. Overall still worth the view!
