Fun Trail. Gets pretty narrow with quite a few boulders at the end. This trail does not lead to a different trail, so if you're thinking of driving out of this area on a different trail, forget about it...not in anything too wide anyway. (We used our Jeep JK)

Not a ton of reviews on the this trail so I thought I might leave one. Just completed it on Saturday 5/11/19. Super fun, went from the 78 and finished on the s2. Definitely not the way the trail was designed. I have a 2017 sr5 double cab short bed with 4x4 and no locker. I wasn’t able to make it up Diablo canyon (maybe a lack of effort) however I was able to be winched to the top! Trail was super pretty and fun. One of my friends was in a double cab raptor was able to somewhat easily make it through the trail. Super great would recommend, do the s2 to the 78!!

I expected this trail to be much better than what if was. The worst part is the entire trail for the most mart has been graded so the whole thing is just vibrating your entire rig the entire time. Just leave the trails alone and stop trying to groom them.

Pretty easy trail until you get to the “gatekeeper”. Trail gets even better beyond that section as well. However, we had two Tacoma’s in our crew and both truck had a hard time leaving the gatekeeper section. This area is tight. I left with a small scrape on my front bumper. We were able to get my buddy out without a scrape by adding a little bit of rocks just below the big boulder. Make sure you have a good spotter if you decide to crawl. Otherwise, if you decide not to cross the gatekeeper section then the trail is really easy.

Great place to hike and offroad with your family.

One of the best off-roading trails I’ve ever been on. Gorgeous scenery and surprisingly little amounts of traffic. Saw about two other rigs out there in a three day span. Perfect for camping, and the skyline and stars are a sight to see. Make sure you have a capable 4x4 though because you will definitely need it. As with any desert be sure to keep a 5 gallon of water in your truck, you go through it quick out here. Will definitely be back soon! -Grizz

Trail was closed from January 1st to June 30th!!! So do not come between those days!!

This is my favorite local trail. Neat sights, little bit of climbing, and my kiddos love it.

Beautiful trail, there was a point that narrowed considerably and had large rocks. Our stock crosstrek couldn’t do it but the rest of the trail was great!

Trail was very beautiful this time of year easily passable just have to watch out for rocks lots of them we camped about 3 miles in by the wind caves very quite and peaceful at the very end of the wash part of wall had collapsed little narrow to pace but other then that a lot of other trails split of from this one lots of different ways you can go.

Good trail with interesting geological features and a few cool vistas. Overall not well marked and when you get off trail the rocks become pretty loose and sharp. There’s a slot canyon that doesn’t look like it can be a trail but it is. Also the road to the trailhead can be traversed without high clearance and four wheel drive.

I would recommend this trail for sure. The wind caves were really really cool. Lots of seashell and sand dollar fossils. It was difficult finding the trail at times so I would definitely recommend using this app to help you stay on track.

nice views, theres junk around but not terrivle, definitely gunshots but they're far and i dont consider them an issue. i tried to follow the trail but kept running i to dead ends. regardless its pretty fun to kill some time and gets some decent pictures. Also, i had to make my own parking spot, car was unattended for about an hour and a half, still there in one piece and no tickets :p

Awesome trail. We’ve got wide tires so the end was tough and we couldn’t completely finish but once you’re at sandstone it was amazing.

Great Trail! Good for first time off-roading. Only a few areas that you might need some technical navigating! Try it out! It’s beautiful and great weather right now in the spring!

Hiked to the hike but didn’t quite get that far. AWD vehicle required to drive in. Nice slot canyon detour off to the left going in (see map). Nice scenery all around.

So much history, gorgeous trail. Just careful with the chollas.

The sound of shotguns can be a bit startling. Esp. When you see someone on a bike with a shotgun. Not sure if this is kid friendly.

This is an amazing hike and you can expect to see so much. It has fossilized shells everywhere, the best uphill slots , a “beach” where people have laid out the best shells and a couple walrus teeth, wind caves, and mud caves. Did it all in 7.5 hours. The trails are pretty good but not marked - know where you are going or your detour will cost you time you could be spending on seeing things. Please do not take items out with you.

I have AWD...a Subaru Forester...is that good enough for this trek?

Awesome trail, very sandy, very scenic.

great scenery, not challenging at all. not too fun to run Raptors . super dusty as well

Great geological area so don’t go off the wash with your 4 X 4. There are all kinds of delicate things if you look for them.

Took my scout troop and everyone loved it. Good variety of geology, outstanding views, and just challenging enough
