Nice short trail. As you can see on the map, there are lots of fire roads that can be mistaken by the trail.
If you want a better workout, do it counterclockwise (steeper going up that way). There's some peculiar historical information about the area. Also, lots of turkey vultures flying by the tower on top (taking advantage orographic lift).

This is a very nice hike if you want no one on your trail, is a great workout and very peaceful time. The trail is not much shaded so take enough sun protection and a nice hat. Also it gets really hot during summer daytime and so bring enough water. The walk through the neighbourhood isn’t very nice - you don’t go on a hike to see how rich Marin people live. But overall it’s a great workout abs I’ll do it again in spring.

Partially rating this so low because it’s marked here as Easy which both my friend and I thought was false. It should be more like Moderate due to the incline of at least the first good stretch of road and trail. If you’re not in decent physical/cardio shape, and don’t have a key to open the first gate to Chicken Shack Fire Road, this will not be an easy start.

What a great trail, you get a workout and a learning experience all in one trip. Good for all ages picnic benches under the trees if you want to bring lunch, all around good site

Nice trail. Dogs on leash, hiking and horses. Bikes are only allowed on the fire road- not the majority of the loop.

Went in mid-June with my husband and small dog. Falls were just a trickle, but the hike up was pleasant with a slight incline. The path was fairly rocky the last quarter mile and a bit uneven for my husband who had to use a walking stick for stability. I wouldn't classify this as an "easy" hike as described, but definitely doable. No benches or picnic tables, but they do provide dog waste bags, and parts of the trail you can have your well behaved pup off leash. Oddly for a Saturday, there were hardly any people, which was nice... not loud. I would consider coming back possibly in fall or spring.

Beautiful hike; most of it is shaded which is nice on a hot day, steady elevation, easy parking and easy to follow. One thing though is there are no bathrooms so plan accordingly :)

It was a cool short hike.

Great for trail running

Parked near the end of Rowland Blvd, so no fees and easy to find the trail. No water in July, but plenty of shade. Might have heard a coyote howl a couple of times. Our dog loved it.

Exactly what I was looking for. This trail says 4.2 but I ended up stretching it to 5 by taking a few extra paths. It says hard difficulty but the sections that are steep can be bypassed via the road/driveway that leads to some stables. speaking of stables, watch your step on this hike. This trail area are also used by horse riders. it's not a big deal and the trail is wide enough to easily avoid any droppings.

This was a good one and I'll be back to explore the other routes for sure

Short but nice trail

Nice view

Loved this loop. Steady elevation gain w/no super steep areas, lovely shade through stands of oaks and redwoods. Easy parking along the side of the road where pavement turns to dirt. A bit of a hidden gem.

What a surprise! Equal to the best trails in Marin and Sonoma counties. Misty day, but a great showcase for the Redwoods and ferns that dominated the trail. Will be hiking the trail again on a hot, sunny day just to enjoy the contrast.

Fun, good climb, narrow in spots.

Beautiful trail. Lots of y’all grass, watch out for ticks, and rolling hills. The climb was easy and nothing to strenuous.

loved it! beautiful and shady. it was a gradual climb to the top so not too bad. the trail at times gets pretty small. but a beautiful place!

Took the dogs around the lower loop, “lower” being relative at 1200 ft... lol. Great gradual hike with well maintained switchbacks. The Redwoods coming down over the mountain into the Novato valley are a great treat to eventually see on your way to the top. Looking forward to doing the upper loop next time!

This was so moderately perfect!!!!! Gorgeous! Everything is in bloom. Wonderful hike

Nice loop trail. Use it a lot. The trail that goes off half way has the prettiest views but best to double back once you hit the end at the neighborhood. LOTS OF TICKS this year.

Very easy and mostly shaded! Nice little creek at the northern part of trail. Love the history lesson before the walk. Great for little ones! If mosquitoes are attracted to you, do not forget the bug repellent! Lol

Beautiful trail with great views! The trail was well marked, we followed the map in the post and had no problems using the trail markers. There is some wildlife on the trail, we saw a coyote. Enjoy!

The waterfall was amazing and cooooold. I went with my dog and there were many friends for him to play with. The only downside was the amount of people, however that’s with all beautiful hiking trails. 10/10 I would recommend heading on down there when the waters running.

Lovely little valley! Easy walk and dog friendly. The falls is actually signed as Buck Gulch Falls.

Lots of greenery. Waterfall is best after rain. By 11 am lots of people on a Saturday.

The trail was pretty easy to find and navigate. Our Golden puppy brought back 6 ticks!
