Great trail, especially the beginning part! Lost the trail at one point and went a slightly different way, but still good.

An easy local hike for beginners to get back into shape! Also nice that there's a "destination" you can enjoy. The falls were more than I was expecting for something so close and easy to access.

Easy to get to but roadside parking can be hazardous because of traffic. Good trail, easy on my dog, with great views of the river/canyon. Mostly hikers and runners and occasionally some on horseback. The switchbacks near Robbie Pt. were the only part that I thought was moderate. the rest is pretty easy

Easy to get to but road side parking can be risky. Great views of the river and canyon. Easy on my dog. Mostly hikers and runners with a couple on horseback.

This was a good hike. Lots of manzanita and one little fern grotto we passed through. Did the loop counter clockwise so walked down the steep incline others had talked about going up. I can see where it would be hot in the summer. Recommend for cooler weather.

One of the most beautiful hikes I've been on

No Road Bike Trail! Per the Ranger!

Beautiful trail along the American River with good variety to keep adults, kids and dogs interested. Easy hills, plenty of both sun and shade, gorgeous river valley views, and even fun little bridges over rushing waterfalls. Lots of options to take offshoot trails down to the river. At the river bed there's plenty of safe areas to explore on the rocky shores. There is limited free parking right on the highway by the trailhead. Clean porta potties at the trailhead too!

Great hike. Beautiful trail. Hated. Hated the very end with a switch back 1/2 mile uphill. I made it! And glad I hiked that trail

Trail closed by cones before you get to it

Nice waterfall and well-marked. We didn’t have to pay for parking either which was a plus. Definitely bring water since there are stretches without shade. Watch out for scat since the trail is shared with horses.

@Jenniffer, yes those were the falls, next to the small wooden bridge. As I mentioned, it is this time of the season that the falls are running very low on water. We were told by a regular hiker on this trail to come back in winters if we want to see the falls in full swing.

It was very hot today. Can someone tell me if the falls are where the little wooden bridge is? We walked past that and went for a very long hike. We didn't see any falls other than that very small creek. The trail is nice though and lots of people were out. The river below is nice.

Did this today, it was damn hot and too dry. Trail was good though and the falls are running very low at this time of the season. If you go to the river below you can spend some quality time in water but there is no shade around water. We’ll return to this trail in winters again and hope to see the waterfall in it’s full swing.

Did this hike with a bunch of Cub Scouts, it’s hot, but the falls at the end are a nice reward. Parking is kind of a hassle, but overall a fun afternoon.

Nice trail! In summer, get out early before it gets hot, as only maybe a third to a half of the trail is actually shaded. Second third or so is what makes the trail moderate, as it’s mostly uphill at that point. Good hike though, and lots of friendly people on the trail!

Beautiful hike, this trail never disappoints! The views are beautiful and the trail is very easy and quick! Only complaint is people NEED and MUST take OUT what they pack IN!! It hurts my heart seeing views such as this littered with trash! Please please people treat our earth kindly!

we just started hiking very good hike not too many people, falls were flowing nicely not too strenuous nice day we also took a side trail to under the bridge had a nice picnic at rivers edge

Nice hike but there are lots of other trails it runs into so it can be confusing. Would definitely do this trail again!

Great little starter hike!

Go early so you can get one of the free parking spots

Great trail. A good up hill. A portion is on the road so watch out for cars. Also, watch for mountain bikers on the last 2 miles.

Easy, not moderate
Steep climb going back to the highway, but short so not so bad
Secluded enough that it didn't feel crowded even with some folks on the trail
Nice views from above, small creek crossings along the way, so so waterfall
Decent hike so giving this 3⭐

Took my four year old. Great family trail but good luck finding parking:/ it was crazy and it’s a $10 feel if you find a spot in the registered parts.

Quick and easy hike with some great sights along the way!
