Fantastic afternoon of cross country skiing on the day after Thanksgiving through these beautiful woods. I didn’t do the whole loop but what I did was super skiable. Trails are indeed very difficult to stay on, but it’s hard to go too wrong in here with Hwy 20 and the Pioneer Trail nearby also.

Short walk with amazing views

The trail is in great condition. Mostly shaded with a few great views along the way. A couple spots where it’s a bit of an uphill but mostly just gradual switch backs. Didn’t see a single person on the trail although it was a Monday.

Really fun trail with lots of little switchbacks and shade. I recorded 6.5 miles instead of 4.8 I think because of the switchbacks. The trail is narrow, so if you have a reactive dog it may not be the best pick as there isn’t a lot of space to go around oncoming people. I went on a Saturday in November, started at 0830, and saw 2 people. Will definitely do again.

trail closed, no dates shown for reopen. didn't state why the trail was closed. ranger walked right by, didn't say a word about it as I passed him.

This was the first time here. This was a great trail. A bit long for me both down hill and up. Trai was in good condition going down and the road back was a bit longer but smooth.

Hiked this trail last year and loved it! For anyone that hiked it recently, is there any snow on the trail?

The 6 miles of rocky dirt road to reach this trailhead and the steep descent at the start of the hike make this less than perfect. The views are perfect! We lost the trail briefly on the granite incline.

Was out here Nov 2, 2019 and ran into three families and a few mountain bikers. Got lucky as the weather was incredible. The trail pretty much followed the track. Watch the map on the detour so you stay left at the fork. If you don't you will end up at the lake and think the trail ends. There are few inclines that will work up a light sweat. There were a few places the trail was hard to follow. I used the app and easily found the tail again. Definitely worth the hike for me.

Truly enjoyed this easy trail. Even on a windy and chilly day, it was a comfortable, pleasant walk. We followed a few different paths and completed 6 miles. Well traveled by others but wide enough path, no issues. We will be back when we just need some easy steps. The color changing trees was a pleasant view as well. Small parking area and close to private properties but separated by the canal and enough distance to still feel secluded yet safe.

Great spot for an autumn hike. The fall color was gorgeous and it was a really chill atmosphere.

Nice and easy trail, way close to civilization on the back half. Good place for younger kids. Very shady.

Beautiful! The most incredible sunset I have ever seen! Took a wrong turn after Long Lake... don’t go right, go left and up the hill. I missed it, thank goodness for All Trails! Pass several lakes on the way... plenty of camping spots around the lake. The downhill in the beginning was a bit deceiving... seemed easy enough, but coming back up it the next day was rough haha!

Fairly easy trail with some slight elevation changes. Bikes also use the path, so you’ll want to watch for them. It’s close to the highway, so you will get road noise.

As others have said, do not use Google maps. Turn at Cement Hill Road for parking and map. Close to homes and road but still a nice, easy walk with some gradual elevation changes and beautiful lake and nature views. You’ll get a good workoutThis is a hike I would do alone and feel safe. A very narrow trail so had to keep moving out of way for bikes but so long as they communicate, not a huge inconvenience. I could see it as a concern for families with littles or dogs. Would recommend and do again.

trail marking isn't as good as it used to be. the app saved us mistakes more than once. trail has also been re-cut a couple miles in, not reflected on the app map

Nice easy trail. The trail is blocked/ closed for repair of some of the walkways. I can see that all the wonderful things said about the trail would be true. Some pesky gnats and a few flies on the part we were able to hike.

I spent the summer hiking the Missouri Bar trail, the Humbug trail, and the South Yuba River trail. I wanted to explore the Highway 20 side of the Missouri bar trail, so I recently parked my truck along highway 20 and the Pioneer trail at N 39° 19.366 w 120° 51.888. Then I drove to the town of Washington with a friend, and hiked on the South Yuba trail to the river crossing. I tried a flat wide pool that looked shallow, but actually went up to my waist. My friend chose a narrow, rocky area to cross and kept his shorts dry. Once across, I followed the red track on my phone and quickly found the trail, a broad path, almost a fire road, up the mountain. Very steep and tiring, but the trail continued on until it ran into some properties near the top. But the path turned parallel to highway 20, then went around the homes, then got to the Pioneer trail, which we hiked to my truck... An excellent adventure.

Beautiful hike! We left the trail head at about 12:30 and returned about 4, but that's with stopping for picnic by the lake. There was plenty of shade and a number of beautiful views (waterfalls, creeks, river pools and lake). Downloaded the map of the trail and that was definitely helpful as there are a couple places you could easily take a wrong turn. Heads up that the switchbacks are not on the all trails map and I think that's why the actual mileage is more like 5.5 instead of the 4.6 shown in the description.

This was a pretty nice trail. They are doing work on it so there are new routes. This map will need to be updated. The best part was the destination.

A bit buggy, but a much more scenic route than the western leg of the trail.

I am just becoming an intermediate rider and it was challenging for me. Dips, climbs, roots and rocks to get around with some granny gear and quick pedaling. Parked at White Cloud camping and went past little amphitheater, down the newly logged area and left onto the trail. Pretty views and easy in the beginning but got steep in a couple areas. Really good trail to learn new skills on. Ended at the open parking (graveled) which took me to Hallelujah Trail- I survived that one, but had no business being on it. 4 crashes and lots of fear!

Glacier Lake was more of a marshy meadow but the trail did redeem itself with mountain range views and snow capped peaks, especially on the Sandy Ridge section. Get ready for some slushy snow and mud throughout the hike so poles are highly recommended.

There was still lot of snow from last week's storm. The trail is easily passable. We only went to Milk Lake and back. There were few other hikers. We love this area

Nice easy hike. Between 1.75 and 2.0 miles there were 4 trees down, though. 3 were just trunks across the path and easy to get over, the fourth, at 2 miles, was a fresh canopy fall. Had to clamber through/around limbs to continue. UPDATE: The eastern leg is much more scenic, so I’m taking one star away.
