Awesome trail that is well maintained. Plenty of wildlife, deer and wild turkeys abound. Friendly and helpful park staff. Trail has a nice mix of open space and covered tree canopies. Beautiful vista views of Napa Valley.

We walked counter clockwise on the loop, the steeper part was at the beginning for us. We prefer to get the harder part over with first. Not a lot of shade, pretty dusty, some rocks.

Nice after work hike. Lots of shade. Good all around little trail. Suggest it to all types of hikers.

Very nice trail overall. I did the skyline part first, the return was fine. Would recommend doing the return via the creek trail as it has more shade and a bit more interesting. Bring hat as rerun is on open trial with the sun at your back before noon and in front of you anytime after 1 pm.

Was wonderful! Until we can across an aggressive coyote...maybe she’s a mama? But we had to run really fast from her. Bring protection if going on this trail near the vineyard...will do again for sure

It was a nice trail with lots of shade. The bathrooms and water were not available as they were under construction so bring water. The ups and downs for the first 2.5 miles, to and from, registered on my tracker as 30 flights of stairs. After the 2.5 you will run into the picnic area with additional bathrooms. Enjoy!

A terrific day hiking. The planet part is really fun. Lots of canopy cover. Beautiful foliage. Gets harder as you climb the mountain. Great views of vineyards and Valley, sobering walk through fire destruction but they’ve done a great job with replanting and restore. Some steep parts for a great leg, flute and cardio workout. Some gravel paths on way down are slippery so watch your footing. Wear sunscreen and hats of out in mid day sun in summer. I didn’t and got burnt! We covered about 7 miles in 2 1/2 hours. Great way to spend a day.

Highly recommend going earlier in the morning as opposed to afternoon especially with the heat! It’s a bit tricky finding the start of the trail but it’s to the right hand of the gated fence you’ll find a path that leads you upward. Also there is no parking. I suggest if you’re lucky to find parking across the street at Paraduxx to take it if not this second time I went I parked on the side of the road and it was fine. This was my second time doing this and I had the great idea of hiking at around 1pm — safe to say I was dying from the heat! Bring lots of water!!! I would recommend wearing long pants just to be safe you don’t get any cuts from the plants/bushes etc. View once you get to the top is AMAZING! Enjoy :)

I did this trail because I wanted to see the city of Napa, come to see that there was a house at the top. Of course it was fenced off but I just thought, “Why is there a trail leading up to someone’s house?” The view was nice in the 85 degree weather, clear skies and a slight breeze. The only downside was that the hike was straight incline but it only took me 15 mins to get to the top.

Great like lunch break pop hike. I would say it's a little more on the easy side of moderate. You'll encounter crickets, garter snakes, cows, deer, and all sorts of birds. Gorgeous views at the top. Very low to no traffic, so you'll have the place to yourself. Perfect for wandering and connecting with nature.

Phew! This one kicked my butt with 1,200 foot elevation climb in the first 0.75 mile. The views of the Valley are amazing the entire way! Like all the other reviews, pants are recommended. I was in shorts, which wasn’t too bad, but I picked up a few scratches. Coming down was almost worse because it’s so steep. I’ll be back when it’s a bit cooler.

We’ve walked these trails for 20 years. Wonderful and flat. Best to not walk on hot days not a lot of shade. Location will provide a good breeze. Best time of day is morning as most are cloudy with the sun coming out by noon. Good for bikes too

This Trail follows the perimeter of Alston park on the east side of Napa. The trail includes walking through an off-leash dog park so hikers should be comfortable with dogs off leash. Beautiful little park and a nice short hike.

Absolutely great hike! $5 to park and the gals at the window are so sweet and helpful! Quick route to the trails and I went to the right along the Skyline Trail. It was great and uphill the first 1.5 miles. Only saw 3 other groups and finished 7 miles in 2:40. I recommend staying off the “road” part because it’s just gravel and there are trails that you can take to avoid it. I’ll be back!

It’s best to hike early in the morning before it gets hot. The sign says ... Dogs on leach ... but I saw a lot of dogs running free.

Nice hike along the lake. Did 8 miles. Saw no one on the trail and no one at the picnic area where you turn back around. Was a Tuesday evening

Very pretty views. Super easy walk. Was just sad at how quick it ended. would be nice if it extended across the street.

nice quick loop with smaller offshoots to see the river.

This trail is mostly gravel with a short stretch of pavement at the beginning. Nice and easy flat trail. Great views of the bay and birds.
