Well. I like this trail better before I realized the hill is basically a giant pimple on the earth. It’s a landfill that was covered in dirt. I mean, yea, it’s great there isn’t exposed landfill just sitting there, and apparently they somehow make energy for electricity from it, but. It just ruined the entire area there for me. It just makes me mad that that was the solution to the landfill. Just bury it? So that all that trash gets to seep into the soil and water around it? Just doesn’t seem smart. Now all I can think about there is how humans are ruining the earth.

This hike.

Features:
A giant man made pimple in the earth. Filled with trash. Yay? :/

If you like to make jerky with your leg skin, then this is the trail for you. lower trail was great, upper trail was hell. over grown with a ton of thorns. ouch

Fun quick trail some good views and not too rough.

First thing, you have you pay a $5 dollar say use fee to hike. It's well worth the money if your up for the challenge. If you hike the whole loop, skyline trail to sugarloaf trail on to manzanita trail, your in for about a 3 hour walk. I started at 10:00 a.m. and finished at 1:00 p.m., covering 7.8 miles and 2,040 ft elevation change. I didnt see any rattlesnakes, hogs, deer, cougars etc. Does not mean that they are not there, so be mindful. I would not recommend bringing children, as some areas are very steep and slippery and it gets extremly hot. Bring lots of water and stay hydrated!! Overall a fun, tough hike. Have fun and be safe!!

perfect Saturday morning running trail.

Dry and extremely hot in the middle of the day. Recommend wearing long pants given the narrow trails and significant overgrowth.

Nice trail. Watch out for poison oak and rattlesnakes.

Pretty boring trail, the lake is pretty though with lots of places to relax and cook out with family and friends. Very easy hike with little scenery

It’s a boring hike and then we had to pick a dozen ticks off the dog.

Lots of signage to find the trails, many of which branch off this one. It's a well-shaded trail—road, actually—so it's great on a hot day. Pretty much up, up, up on the way to Lake Marie (which is not real impressive, but ok). If you have time, take another trail down instead of the road, just for interest's sake. Going up is not a difficult climb, just relentlessly uphill.

Easy little trail, we did see 3 rattle snakes on/near the trail so we probably won’t be back. If you keep your wits about you it’s a great beginners trail!

Nice trails, very level...good walking and jogging...lots of birds including beautiful swans...

lots of elevation change but beautiful in winter! some trails still recovering from fire

Very green. Would call it more of an easy hike, than moderate. Many bathrooms along the way. Dogs came back with ticks, so check your dogs in the spring. Narrow trail, but pretty views. No benches along the way. Bathrooms/picnic at the "turn around point". We got stuck in the rain and walked a quick mile back to our car at the trail head. Good choice as opposed to walking 2.5 miles back. Glad we went early spring. Would be very touristy in summer.

The fire destroyed quite a bit of beautiful scenery but, it also created a different kind of beauty. I went off the "beaten path" as I tend to do. It is well worth the views. Do so at your own risk.

Loved this place, very peaceful and kids enjoy it as well

Beautiful day in February (dry times) for this old guy to trapse around the hills. Good workout and nice views.

I loved this hike! I would rate it on the easier side of “moderate”, but overall really enjoyed myself and the group I came with. The dogs had a blast and there were tons of places to rest and enjoy the lakefront. Had I not been with a group, this would’ve been really fun to run as it had a good mix of hills and the path, although narrow, was easily traceable. I think the right way to do this one would be to wear a bathing suit, bring some snacks and towels, and make it into a private(ish) day in the water. We arrived late morning and got a good mix of sun and shade, I’d love to come back!

I did this hike after a couple of days of rain. Trails were a little wet and muddy but not terribly so that it wasn’t enjoyable. Being the middle of winter was also nice because ticks weren’t active. I have heard that they are prevalent during the spring and summer. There is minimal water source so bring your own. You will venture on a couple of creeks and small lake you could get water but be sure to filter. They had just reopened the trails. The fire had hit several sections and they had to clear away lots of burnt trees. Manzanita trail was hit hard. THe Tuteur loop trail was closed. This section is schedule to open in a couple of weeks. The hike had many open views of the Napa valley and even Benicia/Martinez area. A good mix of shade and open area. The hike from Skyline Trail to SugarLoaf Peak was steep and a narrow single track. The fire was evident here as well but one could see young growth already starting. There is biking, horseback as well. There is RV parking and tent camping at the park entrance if you want to make a night of it. Very clean and open. It took me 4.5 hours to do the 8.5 miles perimeters without the Tuteur Trail section. (Including a 30 minute lunch at the top of Sugar Loaf Peak)

Skyline has reopened! THANK YOU to all the volunteers who cleared burnt trees and other vegetation, repaired signs, and got the park back in shape. The rebirth is beautiful.

The Perimeter Loop is moderate except for the climb up to Sugarloaf and it's fairly steep in spots on the way down. It's a beautiful hike.

This is a good hike and doesn't take that long. It's located very close to downtown Napa.

There isn't a trail here

A bit hard to find the trail head from the parking lot but it's a great sunny day hike with deer and turkeys right up to the trail edges. Beautiful views of wineries, downtown Napa and Silverado Trail.

Small hike out and back along the lake. Too touristy for my liking. Was very windy and dry the day we visited (the same day the Napa fires happened, which has been very unfortunate). It got boring and repetitive 1-2 miles into the trail so we turned back.

Additionally, after reading about the history of this lake, I do not think this is my kind of place. I doubt I will visit again.

Love this trail. I live just down the road so go on it a lot. Definitely tons of wildlife - NOT the trail to zone out and listen to your music on! Pay attention to snakes, pigs, lizards, turkeys, and deer aplenty. I've never seen a wildcat but know many people who have! I like to go counter-clockwise to kick off the workout in high gear and then take it easy the rest of the time. Also a good out and back if you go counter-clockwise to the Lake Marie and back.
