Really basic hike. Because it's so basic, there can tend to be a lot of people on the trail. there are longer, quieter options that end up at the falls, just stop at one of the alternate points before the main lot for the falls trail.

The visitor center was really helpful and provided a great trail to follow. Weather was great and it wasn't too crowded.

Was a beautiful hike, and the weather was sunny but cool. This is one of the more rugged, less manicured trails in the preserve. Saw multiple "watch for mountain lion' signs with plenty of tips on what to do if you see a mountain lion. The best tip is the last one- If attacked, fight back. Did the side trip to the top of Monument Hill as well, great view. Also saw two Rattlesnakes along the trail, so be careful.

Great place to hike this trail and many others offer a look at old California

Went on a Saturday, started around 8:30am and finished just before 11am. Great trail, some really beautiful scenery. Trails are well kept and only a couple rocky spots, mostly on the Los Santos loop. For a Saturday there wasn't very many people. Not counting the Vernal Pool area (which was completely dried up) I saw only about 6 or 7 people the whole time on the trail. Even though it is rated moderate, it's a great beginners trail.

Beautiful trail. Water wasn't running hard down the falls but it is definitely a must see.. lots of blue bellies, huge tad poles, and a salamander swimming in one of the pools in the fall.. Amazing views at the top! We will be back!

All up hill to get to the falls but great views at the top. Bring extra socks Incase you slip in the pools. I know I have.

It was mostly closed off when we went so we just hiked our own trail. Not really a good hike if it’s closed off so probably won’t go back.

Good quick trail !

Hike was short but nice! The only thing is the road to get there is VERRYY NARROW so be cautious and go slow. You have to cross a river not even knees deep to get to the trail that leads to the waterfall. Our pup took a nap when we got there and the hike back was easy.

Great local hike. Good for older children, strollers would not work on the trail back to the falls. There was some water flowing which is really fun to see, watch out for slippery rocks though! Two of my kiddos slipped on rocks and got soaked, but they didn’t mind. Found some broken glass on the trail so watch your step and PLEASE pack out whatever you bring in!

Super easy family friendly hike. The narrow 5 mile road that you take there takes longer than the actual hike. A little bit of water at the falls now. The rocks up there are super slippery so watch your lils! Fun river area to explore as well. The bits of graffiti and trash we saw were a bummer! Oh, and lots of poison oak right now!

who really love of mother nature, this is the quite perfect and secure.

Hiked on 3/7, great route. Only encountered a couple other people, most of the route it feels like you've got the place to yourself. I suggest extending (only .2 mi!) to the vernal pools boardwalk. Opposed to what's said in one of the previous reviews, according to all the signage dogs are NOT allowed on this trail or on this side of the Reserve at all-- although you wouldn't know it due to the poo unfortunately left behind. Dogs are however allowed right across the street on the sylvan-meadows side. Not a whole lot of elevation gain overall, but there are some steeper/rocky spots, so not stroller friendly. Interesting seeing areas of charred grasses-- maybe controlled burns? Trail goes through grassy areas to rocky/wooded areas, a mix of both which is cool. Very well marked, super appreciated compared to other local trails. Love the versatility of the trails on the Plateau, allowing for adjusting your route to make shorter/longer as you wish. Maps available at parking lots. Keep in mind there is a day fee.

This trail was awesome! It definitely had it’s tough moments but it rewards you with its beautiful views and it’s open meadows. Don’t pass up on this trail.

Very nice trial, road getting there was a little scary but it was definitely worth it seeing the falls!

Great little hike.

Great views but for an “easy trail” there is a steep incline in a few spots. The rest of the trail is easy but bring a walking stick or avoid if you have issues with keeping sure footing or balance.

trail was closed to the public.

great hike! very hidden. road was a little scary. short hike but a great moderate incline to waterfalls. still some water flowing. go left over creek to find trail, right after fish information sighn.

The beginning was boring but towards the middle area was awesome with lots of trees and rock's. didn't like the fact that we had to pay to hike

Super fun easy hike. I brought my little dog and she loved it too!

This is a beautiful hike with well maintained trails. A lot of interesting sights. No cell service though so don’t rely on your phone for a guide (our mistake).

Nice, open space views, lots of scat and motor bikes disturbed our walk.

Fun single track once you find it! Lots of dirt roads which weren't as fun. Had to wade through knee deep water to get out. I'd do it for a daily quick workout.

Santa Rosa is my favorite local hiking destination

Dogs are actually allowed on this loop. Very nice trail, only the down side is there are too many dog poop on the trail.

This was a nice trail even off season. We went on a hot Black Friday. It was 86.

Amazing, beautiful views, was able to get lost and get in tuned with nature without having to drive far away from the city.

Not a good trail !
