Dogs are not allowed. We brought our dog, immediately saw signs that said no dogs, but took him anyways because we were already there and got a stern warning from a ranger.

Now I don't know whether to bring my dog or not - conflicting review says dogs are NOT allowed, above says yes allowed on leash. Hmmm

Dogs are not allowed on this trail.

GPS will take you right to parking area. there is no service once you start walking trail. really nice walk and the beach at the end is just GORGEOUS! doesn't feel like your in the bay area. blue water. make sure you do a TICK check before you leave.

We loved it! Nice and isolated place for your dogs to have fun swimming and gorgeous views. Definitely quite the climb down to the cove though, the rest of the trail is moderate but that climb down I would say is hard. Doable, but not for everyone in the family!

Foggy, foggy, foggy!!! But I bet this is one of the best trails to hike on a clear day. From Muir beach parking lot the Coast trail down to Tennessee Valley beach is a little rugged (moderate to hard at times), Hiking poles really helps! We took Fox trail back to Muir beach which is easier terrian uphill for about 2miles and the descend back to Muir beach has great views. It took us a little over 3 hours including frequent picture taking and selfies. Then you can have a relaxing day at the beach after your hike like we did. Have fun!

This was a very difficult hike with not much shade. However, stunning views and the ability to visit three different beaches made up for it. If I were to do this hike again, I would go much earlier and spend more time at the different beaches as well as the picnic area. I saw plenty of rabbits and lizards. You will need to do a bit of rock climbing to get to the beach at Pirate Cove, but there is a good chance you will be only person there. Would definitely do this again with a group of friends. Oh, bring sunblock if it's a sunny day!

Great way to take in the magnificent coastal scenery while getting some good exercise. Beware the final descent into Pirates Cove is steep and more of a series of rough gullies than a trail. Plenty of flowers and birds to enjoy along the way. Marred only by the occasional idiot returning from the beach with his boom box on full blast.

Nice hike to Muir beach but it not for me cause I like to hike the peaks

Parking is a moderately difficult when the weather is nice, but great trail. Beautiful views and even though the rocks at the end are a little challenging the beach is a great reward.

Lovely hike!! It was about 85 degrees and sunny with a mild breeze the day we went, so it was pretty much perfect. We did the trail clockwise so we could get the initial 1.5 mile uphill out of the way and then do the coastal half last with its rolling hills and delicious scenery. The second half does have uphills, so be prepared :) Also, there is NO SHADE anywhere along the trail, wear sunblock and/or stay covered.

Easy beautiful trail to a cove on the beach. My favorite to go place if I don’t want to travel very far.

It is a very lovely trail. I have done this trail several times in July - August. Great weather and great views. Its bit of a hill with a grand end at a lovely cliff enclosed beach.

- My 7 and 10 years old kids enjoyed this hike, especially the adventurous rocky descent to pirate cove beach and climbing back up! This is what makes this trail fun and unique!
- Perfect distance (1.8 miles, from Muir beach) to Pirate cove for a morning snack, then back to Muir beach for a picnic lunch! (3.6 miles total)
- We took the flight of stairs, as a shortcut from Muir beach to the coastal trail and down to Muir beach, on the way back.
- Beautiful scenic views, saw two bunnies, and a snake!

Relatively short but lovely hike, especially on a non-foggy day when walking towards the beach and looking between the two hills that form the "Canyon". I always enjoy that view whenever I'm on this trail.

Great hike! Got to see a bit of Muir Beach, Dipsea, Mt. Tam, Steep Ravine.

Love it. Easy and beautiful. I uploaded some drone footage here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Tx-NJojqss

Amazing hike ending with a beautiful, Californian, cliffside beach.

Going down to the cove at the end is a bit challenging with the rocks, but it’s well worth it at the end

Easy walk along mostly paved trail with breathtaking scenery at every step and turn making the windy day a worthy one! Beautiful on a 60 degree day with lots of mist and wind. Saw a salamander walking along the path! Watch out for our little amphibian friends! “California orange belly newts!”

The path is mostly paved so it’s more of a walk than a hike! But beautiful views and we went on a warm day so the beach was so comfortable

This was a good trail with a stroller. The kids (5 and 3 years old) had a lot of fun finding beautiful pebbles in a streamlet near the ocean. They are excited to go back!

Just finished the hike. Decent kickstart to my hiking season. The inclines gave me a good workout. The trail itself is pretty exposed. The wind was pretty brutal today, but grateful for it because it would've been very hot if not for the wind. There is no shade at all. The coastal views were nice.
