Great morning walk, no shade, lots of birds to see

Beautiful at sunset

Call me crazy, but with the air traffic, 101 freeway noise, and construction vehicles parked about- this trail was far from tranquil. The pros: adequate public restroom and abundant wildlife. There are far better trails if you want to forget you’re near one of the largest US cities.

Easy hike, nice scenery. Great with young kids

Nice little walk, fun for an hour or two with the family - great for a short picnic

Took my dogs out for a hike, decent views with cool wildlife. Be prepared to bring some water if you do the full loop. Could've probably brought a travel bowl for my dogs, had to make more rest stops than usual due to the direct sunlight. Hats and sunscreen are a must if you burn easily. Overall a good flat hike/walk for some warm bay breeze, sun, and exercise!

Not dog friendly

-Look out for the bikers(this is a busy trail)
-Must visit trail for bird lovers
-Nice lake view
-Negative points for the bad odor towards the mud land patch. But again, you can see beautiful migratory birds in this patch.(cover your nose and click the photos)

Many activities suitable for family.

I made this a circular route and so a small section was alongside, but not immediately adjacent to, the highway.
The bay area is beautiful with abundant bird life and friendly hikers.

First trail I found and ran along since I moved to the Bay Area...very nice place, though need to be careful as runners and bikers are sharing the narrow road. I really enjoined running along the river!

Basically good. Easy.

Well maintained, paved, water fountains in several locations. Only one bathroom along trail, at Whisman Park (4 minute walk off of trail). Connects with SF Bay Trail. Can be crowded on weekends. Lots of bikes 5-7 PM weekdays.
Note that the loop on the north end shown in this map is no longer open. It terminates at about the same point as the SF Bay Trail heads toward Moffett Field.

Terrible smell of bay

I rated it low because the trail pictured on the map is no longer available: fences block the access to the seashore. What you can do though is extend your run to the Bay Trail that crosses some preserved areas for bird nesting. Lots of nice bird shots !

Easy, sunny, water views.

go here each weekend with my boyfriend. He's pretty fit but I'm not, so we each go at our own pace until I can't go anymore or we have to be somewhere. He walks ahead and I walk behind so he can power walk and I can stare at each duck, pelican and crane all I want. it's a great place to go if you're a couple like us (one person fit, the other not so much).

We got to the airport from Michaels and then went back which was a nice workout even for him.

we go down to the shoreline when starting our walk so I can get practice climbing steeper. this is to prepare me for steeper climbs other places. then back to flat once we get to the gravel trail.

Bathrooms are at Michaels, also in the party area near lake and then not till you reach the East Palo Alto bayland area parking lot near the airport.

there are water fountains at each location, plus at a bldg near the start of the gravel trail (where asphalt ends).

Beautiful blue water, calm and cold breeze and hot sun, fabulous long walk and sights to see at every turn.
