As of August 2020, hikers report that the campground is closed, so you will need to find alternate parking. Climb up to Black Hill with great views from the summit. Black Hill is the second to last of nine volcanic plugs that lie between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay (the last being Morro Rock itself). The hike to the top travels through Fleming's Forest--a hillside of Monterey Pine trees that were planted by John Fleming (a former park superintendent). It is rumored that Black Hill received its name due to the tar seep on the north side of the hill. This scenic and enjoyable hike is relatively easy and can be done in just a couple of hours.Show more

Nice paved trail for walking, biking, and skating with views, wildlife, and hundreds of cool stacked rock towers. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved/boardwalk and typically at least between four and eight feet wide. The grade is mostly gentle (all estimated under 5% except for a steep section on the westernmost section of the trail near Moro Rock - wheelchair and stroller users may need assistance where it is steep).Show more

A short, easy trail from the marina in Morro Bay. This trail follows the edge of the peninsula at Marina Point, briefly goes into the estuary and ends up back at the Marina. Currently a trail of various conditions. It is wide and smooth up to the point of the peninsula. There are a view side paths but those parallel and re-enter the main trail. The condition of the back side of the trail is determined by the tides. It can be very muddy. Boardwalk under constructionShow more
