Awesome place and great hike. Take the trail to crumbaugh lake or bumpass hell. Sometimes there’s a lot of bubbles and sometimes there’s not. Can’t expect it to be perfect all the time. If you’re complaining about not enough bubbles or to easy of a trail I think you’re missing the point of being out in nature.

Rather underwhelming but a good cool down hike after lassen earlier that day!

Disappointed in the lake. It just didn’t have much going for it. My 5 and 9 year old loved the flowers.

Upon learning Bumpass Hell Trail was closed, we were forced to pick a few alternate hikes. We started with this one and though we don't regret it, like others have said, there were only bubbles in a few spots...underwhelming if you've been to Yellowstone! The lake itself is beautiful though. I'd recommend it if you want to do a quick & easy hike.

We did this trail opposite - starting at cold boiling lake because bumpass hell trail is currently closed. Amazing hike, but NOT easy done this way. Steep all the way to bumpass, but so worth it. Beautiful wildflowers all along the trail, mostly shaded, and we were one of the only ones at the end. Fun to enjoy bumpass without the crowd.

Only a few bubbles in a few spots. Recommend going further to Bumpass hell.

With the Bumpass hell basin area being closed for renovations until 2018 end, took this trail from cold boiling lake to Bumpass hell. Easy hike with amazing views of Crumbaugh Lake along the hike and Bumpass Hell. Cold Boiling lake was disappointing though.

Kinda disappointed in this one. Don't go expecting a boiling lake, most like a few burping air bubbles. The hike itself is nice and has some great views though.

This trail is marked at 1.8 miles each way on the trail sign from Bumpass Hell. The 5.4 miles per this site seems a lot more accurate. We hiked on a warm August day and got a little dehydrated. I would recommend it but bring lots of water. The views along the way of wildflowers, springs and Crumbaugh Lake and Cold Boiling Lake were absolutely spectacular. Cold Boiling Lake itself as a destination was kind of underwhelming.

Быстрый спуск, перевал и обратно. На тропинку в нескольких местах на склонах выходит вода из горы. Не обойти, обычные кроссовки в болотце утонут, лучше трейловые либо показывать акробатические скилы.

Connects to bumpass he'll trail. Would not describe as easy given ascent required on return.

Easy, fun.

Not much to see if only going to this lake and out. Only couple bubbling spots. If you continue up the Bumpass Hell trail you we be in awe by all the beautiful scenery

Extremely beautiful and reflective! There wasn't much boiling going on except for one point at the edge of the lake, if you kept following the trail toward Crumbaugh. There were plenty of frogs jumping on and off the trail that were fun to catch and release. The grass was still green, and besides the temperatures it practically looked like spring.

With the drought as it is here in NorCal the lakes aren't at their best. Not much boiling going on and not much water. Pretty hike none the less. There are a lot of mosquitos however so bring spray.

Short easy trail. Promised bubbles were few and seldom. Mike
