Pretty good bay area hike. The Bort meadow end of the trail has much less people. At 7:30 we had the first hour of the trail to ourselves, super nice, lots of birds to listen too. The Chabot portion of the trail had mountain bikers flying by with no regard for us but they need their space to do their thing too. I'd do this hike again just prefer quieter trails. Nice three hour hike.

Tried to go up Rocky Ridge but it was far too overgrown, so I went back down and did the Carr Ranch Loop instead. I'm glad I did...really fun trail and I didn't see anyone else out there.

Start at Rancho Laguna Park - Plenty of Parking. Walk on the concrete path on the right hand side of the park to the sign in station. At about a mile you will start up (one of many climbs) - at 1.5 miles you have a great view back of Moraga and to the East nice views of Las Trampas. You will go back down into a small valley where it stay mostly flat. At 2.5 miles you start climbing again - views are wide open. A little bit of shade in the valley but most of the hike is exposed

Great trail I did with a friend. The day we did it hikers in front of us saw a mountain lion cross the trail and several people did a turnaround.

A wonderful trail.

This trail was great for a Sunday bike ride. It's completely paved, mostly flat and shaded. There were a lot of people out walking, jogging, and biking.

There is a slide near the Valle Vista staging area and that section of the trail is closed. But there is a dirt path around the .25 mile marker that connects to Augusta Drive and provides a detour around the slide. It's hard to say when the trail will be repaired.

If you do the entire trail from the Valle Vista staging area to Pleasant Hill Rd, it's 7.65 miles each way. It took me a little over an hour at a leisurely pace.

This short hike gives you a taste of the featured Kings Canyon Loop trail. It takes you far enough up the hill to peek out at the San Leandro Reservoir and that's it. I added on the Riche Loop at the end, which made the hike almost four miles total.

Park at Rancho Laguna Park off Camino Pablo. You can enter the trail by walking through Sanders Ranch and passing 4-5 houses on the left. The trail was muddy in sections that are near creeks and have little sun. Wear Pants due to vegetation growth covering significant portions of the trail. We only saw one other group using the trail.

This trail actually continues past Moraga Commons (see previous review) to Valle Vista Staging Area. From there one can access EBMUD trails (permit required). The Lafayette-Moraga Trail is very popular with cyclists, walkers, families.

This is a good walking trail. It runs from Lafayette at Olympic Rd to the Moraga Commons. It has a might to moderate incline which makes it great for biking. There is heavy foot traffic early mornings with walkers, runners and bikers. Dogs must be leashed.
