As of September 2020, trails in this area are closed due to wildfire. See park page for more information. This trail start along a Klamath National Forest numbered route, but on logging company land (Fruit Growers Company) but and ends on Klamath National Forest lands. There are no property owner signs at all anywhere along this trail. It is also a route that the Siskiyou Wanderers have used for decades This hike starts just off of the Grass Lake Summit on Hwy 97 northeast of Weed CA. It crosses National Forest Land using both recently used and older logging roads. It has varying views of Grass Lake and Mount Shasta as you climb. At the summit there is a lookout structure with a great 360 degree view of Mt. Shasta, the Trinity Divide including Mt Eddy, the Shasta Valley and the Salmon Mountains in the distance, the Siskiyou Mountains, Mt Ashland, Pilot Rock in the distance, nearby Goosenest and Grass Lake as well as the Klamath Basin beyond.Show more
