I agree with the two previous comments from several years ago! This trail felt longer than stated...it is definitely all uphill with lots of switchbacks. We didn't make it to the lake and complete the whole loop. About 6 miles in there are several rivers and waterfalls...according to the map the split to start the loop should be right around there and we couldn't find it. We kept going up the trail, past where the split should have been and still nothing! This was a beautiful place to stop and set up camp...but we're bummed we didn't make it to the lakes.
Lots and lots of water, fallen trees to climb across, river fishing etc... I have never seen so many waterfalls in one place! I'm wondering if this trail would be more passable later in the year when there is less flowing water.

We'll definitely be back to try it again! But prepared for a longer, more challenging hike.

This is a great hike from Mono Campground. There are TALL rocks to sit on and jump off of. The lake is large but just small enough that you can swim across to the far side and jump off of Eagle Rock if you have balls of steel. There are lots of harmless little black snakes and fish. This lake is also known as Tule Lake because of all the reeds. So much wildlife, and very peaceful.

This place is like the veins of the earth. There are places to explore and swim here where no other humans have ever trodden. Some of the most beautiful scenery and peaceful feelings you will ever experience.

Driving up after Kaiser pass rd, is 11 miles on a one way sometimes very narrow road. We parked near the wooden bridge, but found out on the way back there is day parking in the Mono Springs resort area which was closer to the trail head. Trail head was not marked but there were signs along the way. Doris lake was beautiful. There was one other person there on a Sunday afternoon.

Went on a week day for lunch so there were not too many people.. Not as warm as one would hope but I swim in every lake I meet. Fun place to jump off cliffs.

Beautiful and refreshing Lake. Trail not super clear in spots so pay attention but well worth the short walk to this gorgeous spot.

This spot is wonderful! After visiting the hot springs we went for a casual hike up to Doris. Its a swimming lake. Bring your blanket, suits, and snacks. Its the perfect summer afternoon get away. I didn't have my camera, but trust me these pictures don't do it justice.

I blelieve the trail is longer than 18mi, according to our GPS is was 12.5mi in making it 25mi round trip. There are A LOT of switchbacks. Pretty much the whole way there is up hill, climbing about 3,500ft.
