This is a beautiful hike. I took my grandchildren on this trail. We did not do the whole trail but enjoyed what we did do.

moderate level hike. not much to say about the scene if you have done hikes like mt. diablo etc. the climb up is easy except for 203 sections of 500yards where there is an incline. mostly exposed to sun and not much special features. view from peak covers the lower bay. nothing spectacular, depending on the temparature on the day hike can go from moderate to hard. we had a group of six hiking starting at 8am ( gates open at 8 so be prepared to wait or park more than a mile back and hike, not worth). heat ramped up spectacularly by 12 and the exposed nature of the hike makes it an endurance hike, trail markers can be confusing for some. in summary a one time doable. cant say the same for repeat hikes

The downhill part of the trail (going CCW), near the golf course, was totally overgrown. We had so many ticks on our clothing! Mid May 2018.

$6 entrance/parking fee. dog friendly. off leash dog park. moderately difficult trails. nice lake

Breathtaking views, really light traffic once you get away from the trail heads. It’s definitely one of the hardest trails I’ve ever done, but also one I’ll never forget. Plenty of cute cows will stare at you as you make your way to the top, so prepare to have you heart stolen. Piece of advice though? Mind their poop!

Great workout on Christmas day -- perfect sunny temps, lots of bovine friends -- highly recommended. Will definitely plan on connecting to Mission Peak next time.

The best work out you can get with Beautiful views!!

You need to go early in the morning there isn't any shade. The trails are not well marked

This is a nice alternative to mission peak. The ascent is very gradual. Offers great views.

opened and its mostly gravel. it can be congested with pedestrians depending the time of day you go (I went during lunch). I biked probably 5mi and the trail ended. there were no signs indicating where it continued.

You want to park at the Cottonwood Grove Entry, which is about 3/4 mile south of the Dixon Landing / N. McCarthy Blvd. intersection. From there, you can follow the paved path south until you reach the 237 underpass.

The entrance to go under 237 is not well marked. I totally missed it and had to back track. There are small openings along the fence where you can get through.

As you head further south, the trail becomes less maintained. Below Tasman Dr. you're on gravel. And once you cross under Montague Expressway, you'll come to a sign that says "Trail Ends" and I recommend that you turn around.

Overall, this trail isn't very interesting. It makes for an ok bike ride and you can continue north or west and do more biking if you want. If you head north along Fremont Blvd along the paved bay trail, you can connect to the trail that follows along Coyote Creek Lagoon (also on All Trails).

We went up Agua Caliente to the top, and came down on some smaller unnamed trails. About 9 miles total.

Dry trail with mostly brown grass to you keep you company. Pretty up straight up at a gradual elevation, so it gets you up without being too tiring.

Decent valley views from the top, but nothing too spectacular. The creek with some trees at the mid-point is a nice break, but otherwise it's a pretty dull hike for summer times. I'm guessing Spring and Winter are more fun, and plan to find out some day!

Had completed a 8.2 mile loop of this difficult hike with ~2000 feet elev gain starting from Tularcitos trail near the dog park in Ed Levin park. The loop comprised of Tularcitos trail - Agua Caliente trail - Monument Peak trail on the way out and Monument Peak Road - Agua Caliente trail - Tularcitos trail on the return. With some outstanding views, this hike is an option to the highly trafficked Mission Peak.

A dry, mostly uncovered trail with some bugs and weeds. You get nice views of the city and the lake from above. Nice views of hang gliders taking off. Pretty tough uphills.

Beautiful open vistas. Check for tics after walk and keep alert for rattle snakes. Start early in day!

Hiked the trail in early May with my dog. He was *covered* in ticks (about 30 of them). Found a couple of them on myself also. I didn't see any signs warning about ticks. And some areas were completely overgrown with unavoidable thorny brush. It was painful.

I would not suggest this trail. Definitely don't take your dog here.

great day to go out and see the mystery walls. after all thus rain, the flowers were overgrown. Glad not to do this hike in the summer heat.

Rather crowded but mostly cows not really in a hurry to clear the trail. Very nice run up and down under the fog. If you park at the county park please note that it only opens at 8:00 and that line can be long.

It is a long hike but did not seem to be very tough on the legs. Views of the mountains, valley and the bay are beautiful and can be seen through out the hike. You will get to see a lot of cows grazing on the trail, there were times where we had to go off the trial to not disturb them :). We went for the hike after the rain so the trail was a bit damp.

High quality run : long ascend, very technical - because of slope, mud and chaotic ground left by the local cows.

Sunday, January 29, 2017

A nice steady climb. Not that many people. Hang gliders, wild turkeys, great views. It was a great day! Ill go back to climb up to monument peak.

Great trail with diverse landscapes. It was a cloudy day so I couldn't enjoy the view of the bay, but the last part of the trail was above the cloud ceiling (approx. 2100 ft).
Take a few extra steps at the top to climb Monument Peak, the view of the hills on the other side is worth it.
