Has some pretty tough uphill to start, no matter which direction you go. Challenger yourself not to stop till you get to the top!

It's a nice short loop. I suggest going left out of the parking lot because there is a loop that is optional and it'll be easier to skip later if you aren't feeling it. There is also a pretty steep, though optional, hill later on that I'd rather go up the steep side and enjoy the gentle side down. Bugs exist but I was never bothered by any.

I liked this walk, it was enough for me and my dog to get some good exercise. If you do bring your dog, just know there are limited areas they can go (I didn't notice, and did the whole trail). Lots of geese and ducks.

Standard fire trail width with road apples, and steeper inclines/declines when they happen. More shaded than not, with free ranging cows that gathered at the watering hole and/or shade. Minor bugs and obedient off-leash dogs with their owners. Not too crowded either.

Great if you want a shorter hike. A couple steep hills but still a moderate trail overall. Pretty views at the top and some shade in parts.

Mix of terrain, other hikers spotted couple coyotes, no bathrooms, lots of cows, great hike overall!

Great area with lots of different routes and trails, easy to make a custom loop for the distance you want

great trail.. almost to steep on the way down to run... but great workout on the way up the hill..

Nice trail, very steep in parts. Once on ridge it is very open, not much shade. App glitched and we got a little confused, figured it out. Watch poison oak in shaded areas.

The end of the Orchard trail where you turn around, does not exist. It looked like it existed years ago. So I kept going on the fire road which led to another entrance to the park

This was a nice bike ride. Great work out going up. Very rewarding going back 1000ft down

Dad daughter and turbo hike. Nice views. Cool day. Brought plenty of water. Great workout

This was a fun little trail. I explored a little off trail to get out of the direct sun, and it turned out to be a very nice extension of the hike. There were more bugs, but I assume the water had something to do with it. Remember sunblock as there is little shade on the full trail.

Really enjoyed the trail and seeing Martinez from a different view!

Some uphill, but not too steep... don’t follow the trail down past Mt Helen, it dead ends at private property and you’ll have to hop some fences or go back up a pretty steep uphill, stay on the loop paths

Nice trail with some scenic spots and pretty views. Quite a few cow patties along the way, which you have to avoid (and the smell is not always great). But there is some shade on the main uphill and downhill areas, which is nice. Also, being fairly new to trail running and not knowing all the trails that well yet, I’d say it was a little hard to read the trail names on the trail posts while in motion. A fresh coat of paint could help.

Great hike with a fair amount of shade. Views are spectacular. However, the trail takes a sharp turn around Briones Peak that is too steep to easily navigate up or down. It is slow going and could lead to quite a tumble.

Great trail, but the part near Briones Peak is a steep, slippery path - more like a natural wash, which was treacherous going down.

Nice trail, but not a lot of options. Mostly it's just in and back, but quite pretty, partly shaded and offers some good views of Martinez. Unlike the review below me, we did not see any mountain lions (that would have been interesting but scary). It's a but kicker up to the top and we also took a side trip to Briones peak, which is only 5-10 minutes away.

Good workout. Very uphill for the first part but then Levels out

I’ve trying to hike this trail for years. It went up and up to nowhere! Perhaps because I didn’t have the time to keep going. Oh well perhaps next time. It was not too fun this time.

Hike is more like 7 miles and the last mile is basically all up hill.. great hike

Bring your bug spray! There are pools of standing water along the trail. Mosquitos everywhere. A lot of steep inclines to challenge you. Solid hike. Parking is very easy. Make sure to follow the trail map on your phone. We got detoured a couple times. Had a 30lb toddler on my back. Took about 4.5 hrs.
