Hiking

Great hike very easy. The poison oak was a little worrisome. We brought some dinosaurs to hide and and fun finding and re-hiding other dinosaurs, rocks, etc. Saw some lizards and a cute little frog. With all the bridges we are planning on visiting in the rainy season to see if any streams appear. We did bring a dog and was a little appalled by how many other dog owners did not pick up after their dogs. Lots of poop to look out for too. Just as disappointing was the trash people left behind. Maybe if there was a second garbage can in the halfway point.

Had a blast taking my son and nephew. Parking is free, trail is great, fun finding/re-hiding dinosaurs, and we stopped for a refreshing dip in the river. Easy, fun trail.

this was a great loop for my 2 and 4 year old. although I kept my 2 yr old in a carrier as the reviews were right, there is a lot of poison oak. while we chose this trail partially because we heard there were little dinosaurs hidden throughout, we didn't see any, but we did see a couple of other toys. the kids were not disappointed though, there were lots of other natural things that caught their attention and imagination. the whole area was cute and we will definitely be going back.

Great trail for a moderately short hike. Lots of beautiful river access, foliage and secluded trail. Fun for swimming! It took us a bit to find because the map connected to the app is incorrect, but worth the hunt.

Good trail but go early. It gets hot fast. Also be careful of poison oak. Not too many dinosaurs. They’re really small so good luck finding them.

Went late afternoon, barely anyone on the trail. Has some great views of the hills of golden California. Can also bike or horseback ride here. Plenty of trails to choose from as well

Cute family hike. Access to river but the beach is only so big, so really a passing through cool Off point, but since kids are involved you can’t really pass through or people actually come stay for a bit, so it just means people are on top of each other. If you do the this trail I say don’t do it during the summer, and if you must I say get there super early way before 10. Careful with poison oak as a little can be brushed up on while on walkway.

Decent trail. The river is beautiful. Wish we wouldn’t have started on the right and avoided the 2nd loop, “the down up trail”, it’s just a dry field with no shade and the view is okay. If I were to do this trail again, I’d start to the left next to the river and go up to the bench before the 2nd loop and turn back. It’s a shorter route but the best parts.

Fun hike for the little one but there werent as many dinosaurs as we were hoping to find. We did find about a dozen lizards though! Haha. We will definitely be back when it is not as hot out. The river was beautiful as well.

Loved this trail with my 6 year old son. We found the perfect walking stick. We found the perfect spot. It was wonderful. We were at our spot for 15 minutes when we were rudely interrupted by 5 large adult women and their 5 spoiled kids and dog shitting and running freely They threw our walking stick in the water for their dog. We planned to paint it and keep it. They threw their dogs ball directly at my son and the dog soaked and scared my kid. They said no words to me as we left. I looked at them and said “it was so nice and quiet here”. They just smiled. We basically got booted from our spot from 5 fat adult women and their rich kids. White trash is no longer in a trailer house. These ones looked as if they came from granite bay. Hope one of them reads this and stops ruining people’s otherwise nice day. I don’t think they even noticed they fucked up our peace. Those type people.

Gorgeous and easy hike for a weekday morning! We took the creek trail down to the river and hiked out along the river trail. We started in the early morning, and had the trail all to ourselves. Traffic started picking up in the afternoon, but we were on our way out. Lots of shade along the creek, and plenty of spots to stop and splash in the river along the river trail. The wildflowers were in bloom, and it was one of the most beautiful hikes we've taken in a long time!

Beautiful hike. Amazing views. Also feels good to stop at the water at the end of your hike. Keep an eye on the map, there are lots of little trails everywhere and it is easy to make a wrong turn instead of following the loop. Absolutely recommend this hike and will be back. (Best time to go is when its all still green in April/May)

A beautiful trail! It says closed due to COVID but plenty of people walking in and around for you to also feel comfortable going in. There is endless parking on the road. It's pretty busy but it's to be expected during this time. I recomend bringing a suit to swim. I was regretful not bringing one. The river is beautiful. We made a day of it.

Great moderate trail! We found parking off to the side of the road. Not a lot of shade cover but that was welcomed since we have all been cooped up lately. We hiked down to the river and had lunch then hiked back.

overall nice trail. Very easy to follow with the option of taking the in and out route or a loop trail. Partially shaded and heavily trafficked on a Sunday. there are some nice spots to sit and relax next to the river. Parking lot is closed due to covid19 but street parking is an option.

This is a beautiful spot. Many beaches for swimming. It is an easy stroll if you stay along the river and lots of shade too. Not too many people on a weekday. You can keep going and going.

This was such a fun trek. Lots of great views and terrains. Not crowded and we got a little bit of rain on it which made it kind of pleasant because it was refreshing. A variety of trails with lots of turns and elevations.

Nice trail. So great for my kids: 5, 3 and 1.5. The first half of the trail leaving beside the bathroom is wide, clear and easily accessible for any ability level. The other half of the loop is narrower and has more obstacles in the path that could be tough for anyone with mobility limitations. I was surprised at how lovely the river was when we arrived. My kids had a great time throwing rocks and putting their hands in the water. We’ll come back with life jackets and swim suits in the summer. This was such a great hike for our family, and I expect we’ll be back again soon!

What a great easy trail for families! I’ve been twice over the last week. It’s a nice place to go to get everyone out of the house. People along the trail are very respectful of your space. We really enjoyed finding the dinosaurs along the trail. We found at least 15 dinosaurs and a duck in the water. It’s such a great idea to keep the kids busy. Unfortunately, I have a complaint and it’s towards dog owners. Please pickup after your dog and carry out the poop bags. It’s not our responsibility to do that for you. (Blah)
