Great hike! Ends up being closer to 9 miles if you do oats peak as well. The oats peak portion is definitely more on the hard side. Pairs well with Coon Creek trail since it's a breeze.

Today we ended up doing the entire Coon Creak trail then climbed Oak Peak Summit. It was such a beautiful hike. It did get really hot towards the peak, so bring a camelback or a Canteen of water. Not much shade at the peak. The views are breathtaking. The Oat Peak is challenging since it is 2 miles upward. The peak ended up being around 110 floors. Enjoy the views!

Trail is only open Thursday thru Monday and has gated access.

A very nice trail I would rate moderate. I ascended with a portion of the Valencia Peak trail to get a better workout and avoided that route down in order to save the knees. I look forward to returning in April to see the wildflowers.

The Bluff Trail is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast and Pacific Ocean. This hike of the Bluff Trail is well worth doing, best in the spring when everything is blooming and it is not too hot, it was foggy on this particular day. This trail has both ticks and Poison oak as hazards if you get too close to the sides or go off trail. Rattlesnakes are very common here.
I actually was on three different trails, I started on the Bluff trail at the southern end, then switched to the Badger Trail to go inland for awhile. Then, I switched to the Rattlesnake Flats trail to head towards my car.

The Los Osos Oaks State Reserve is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast at a few places, but most of the time you are under beautiful oaks. This Hike of of the Los Osos Oaks State Reserve is well worth doing, great all year long, maybe not so much in rainy season. This video was shot in the summer so very little of both ticks and Poison oak as hazards if you don't get too close to the sides or go off trail. Lots of wildlife if you look for it, mostly squirrels and rabbits so hawks can always be present.

The trail would be amazing if it was maintained. I got almost half way up when I had to stop because the over growth was to gnarly. Luckily found a cool trail through the eucalyptus that made it worth it. But cut back this trail please!

This trail was very clean and wide at sections. You are deceived at first by a big mountain that is just the small peak before the actual Valencia peak. make sure to bring hiking poles, slippery on the way down.

easy hike, good views, great temperature, too manny people.

Great hike with ocean views

Nice trail - better in winter as it doesn’t have much shade

Great easy hike with beautiful scenery!

Nice area, but the trail is not clearly marked. At all. Watch out for poison oak. It was a nice walk in the woods if you’re not the type of person that needs a trail.

Loved this trail. It was a good workout with the reward of stunning views. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful view from the trail. This trail is rated moderate. I hate to see what hard is. Take lots of water and enjoy the scenery. We are beginners so It was hard for us but we were able to conquer it. I would recommend this.

Nice easy trail with good views of the back bay. Lots of birds to see. Trail is well maintained, but mostly loose dirt. Definitely wear close-toed shoes.

Love this trail wonderful views and easy enough for YaYa and her 7 & 5 yr old grandsons

Some of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen! Mostly shaded, easy hike. My 7,5, and 3 year old walked the trails with me without any problems. Lots of Poison Oak, but if you keep your eyes open and stay on the trails, it can be easily avoided. Not stroller friendly. Saw a rabbit, squirrels, birds and lots of lizards. Very peaceful hike. An awesome trail that cuts through the inner valleys of the backside hills in Montana de Oro. Moderate elevation gain, and a few areas where footing can get a bit rough (loose dirt), but overall a relatively easy and well-maintained views. Really nice ocean views in the latter portions of the trail!
