it is better to do it early morning, while there àre less traffics and sound

This trail is one of my favorite ones. I normally go every other weekend , for almost two years I went hiking this trail every weekend.

This is an easy way to get behind or in front of the Hollywood sign. Plenty of parking and the trail is very well marked! This trail is busy but super fun for a city hike!

Excellent views of Los Angeles! Park at the highest point on Lake Hollywood Drive near Wonder View Road. Climb the pavement past the water tower. For a nice loop follow the power line fire trail around to the North. Look into Warner Bros back lot. Before the trail ends find the steep ridge trail (unmarked). Ascend to climb the steep crest overlooking Forest Lawn cemetery. At the summit of Mount Lee find the USGS marker. Turn West for the Wisdom Tree and go straight down to complete the loop. Or veer Southeast to descend to the Hollywood Sign overlook, then follow the asphalt down to the Deronda gate and wind West through the expensive residential neighborhood to the Lake Hollywood dog park. Continue streetside to return to your parking location.

Great hike! Great trail! Great views! Great workout!

great trail for the first half or two thirds. after that is freeway side path back. dont worry too much about going on the wrong trail, most of them come back together anyway. just keep an eye on the gps.

As others have pointed out, it's best to do the hike in a clockwise direction. I went an hour or so after it had rained, and going counter-clockwise would have been just awful. Enjoyable hike, and really beautiful in the evening near sunset. It's pretty exposed near the top, so bring a jacket if you plan to spend some time at the benches.

Started at the base of Ferndell and went through the gardens (awesome). It took about a half hour to hike to the Observatory. Fantastic views, especially as you walk towards the back side of the Observatory. The hike was worth every step just for that. Hung out at the Observatory for a bit and people watched. Overall a great hike, moderate but the whole family could do it. Even though dogs are allowed, I wouldn't bring mine if you intend on hanging at the Observatory at all.

NOTE: If you want to go into the Observatory its free, but its closed on Mondays!

Oldie but goodie. Great, quick ~2hr hike (from Greek Theatre -> Hogback Trail -> detour Glendale Peak -> Mt Hollywood -> Griffith Observatory -> Greek Theatre). 8am start, not crowded. Brilliant views on a crisp, winter day. (Sun Feb 10)

Lovely walk overlooking the city. Can’t really say anything bad. Just didn’t give 5 stars cos it’s not mind blowing

11.8 miles and 2:44 time it went crazy..

Good for a city trail. Well maintained.

Love this trail! One of my favorites!

I really enjoyed it. However, it's a shame there's so much litter. Be careful with broken glass. The caves are pretty cool though. I just wish people respected nature more.

A very pleasant stroll. Also, great fishing. Just don't eat the fish!

Great trail. Amazing views of the city

Loved!

Very difficult initial incline. Beautiful trail throughout

Great leg workout! I’m a beginner when it comes to hiking and the climb was a bit steep but taking my time and stopping to take in the views helped. I saw people of all shapes, sizes, and age doing this trail! Coming down the mountain can be a little sketchy. Watch your step as the dirt can be loose and slippery.

lots of back trails to take. nice views of downtown LA, Korea Town, Holloywood, Westwood, and the Pacific Ocean. used to be a reservoir that breached during an earthquake in the 1960s that killed lots of people. popular place for photography and bbq's. the pooch loves it here! lots to do

great morning for the run..

I feel great. Beautiful!

Great hike!!

good morning run..

Very nice hike. Did 17 miles in one day.

The trail definitely has an incline but it's worth it for the view. I don't think the loop is open anymore, or maybe you go around the closed gate? But we did an out and back to the tree and loved it. Definitely where some shoes with some grip.
