Was nice, went with Fuqua Energy Club Gang for Klinkman’s bday, some pretty aggressive hills for the first half. But definitely some panoramic views. Getting there took longer than I thought because the road up was classic windy and frankly would be insanely dangerous in the dark because I didn’t see any streetlights and I did see a lot of steep drops around some intense u-corners.

Excellent MTB trails

A little buggy, but overall a nice and relaxing hike

My first official hike happened here the first week I move to CA...aka...first week of June. It was challenging, but that's because I was/am inexperienced. My friends were experienced and even they enjoyed it and found some challenges. It has beautiful views and it was an amazing adventure that I would definitely repeat.

The old Spanish trail becomes non-dog friendly about half way down the right side of the loop, had to turn back. Lots of mountain bikes going pretty fast on alpine road which made hiking with a dog on the narrow trails less than ideal. A couple of nice vistas.

As long as you don"t bother about loud motorcyclists and the fact that the trail is all the way near HWY 9 OR 35 you can enjoy the 4.7 miles loop.

I’ve walked this just after sunrise and just before sunset.
AM it is best to go clockwise, PM best anti-clockwise.

Lovely views. Road noise can be
Loud at times

Really scenic, very beautiful and not too hard to hike (tho some parts get a little steep).

Make sure to note that the park closes 30 minutes after sunset, and the rangers will begin to give tickets after this.

Great hike..nice views...if you have a dog-comb them for ticks afterwards..not too many, but be cautious..

great walk but at the end we saw the sign saying no dogs! so maybe remove the dog friendly tag.

I did counterclockwise with having a little detour to enjoy Stevens Creek Natural Trail. Indian Creek Trail has steep gradient and was challenging with almost no shade. But view from black mountain was great. There were not many shade through the loop except Stevens Creek Natural Trail. Recommend to hike in the morning and finish before noon if temperatures exceed 90F.

Recommend going clockwise on loop to avoid doing 100% elevation all at once.

Good and relatively easy workout to reach black mountain. 5 miles round trip if you reach the black mountain and come back. 6 miles if you meander around at the top for some time. Doable in 2-2.5 hrs. Open trail, hence best if completed before noon in summers.

This loop is a bit of a challenge for kids under 10yo, but doable as a 3-5h walk. It definitely has enough variation to keep them interested for the whole distance. Alpine Pond is a good midpoint, and it's possible to shortcut the loop there if the ascent to Borel Hill turns out to be too much. During our visit in early May we saw amazing wildflower displays, lots of birds and two coyotes wandering near the trail.

I took us around 3 hours to do this loop with children (so multiple stops and small detours). No outstanding features, but pleasant views and a stream for part of the loop. A lot of wildlife these days in the preserve: we saw more than 10 deer, some wild turkeys and a coyote in the early afternoon. Also many birds, butterflies and wildflowers.

Visited hidden vila and the trails after few weeks of rain. The creek was full and flowing fast which was an amazing view! The farm is very nice and suitable for young kids.

best trail to do practice for long hikes. you can start at Pg&e and reach black summit via quarry trial. that makes its 12.5 miles of round trip. Do it twice and you are ready for any hike around in the range of 22-25 miles.

Scenic views and several different trails you can hop on. Great for trail running and getting a good hill workout.

This is a fairly easy trail with many short sections. A 3+ mile loop will only gain about 400' in elevation. A couple of nice views but mostly you're in a mixed forest. The San Andreas Fault trail, a loop, will take you by a fence which has shifted over 3' from the ground movement of the '06 quake. When leaving the trail head closest to Skyline, take the left hand route and you'll see the best view you will see while on the hike. This is a good hike for someone not looking for a lot of elevation gain. It's not flat by any means but probably one of the flattest hikes in an area with lots of hills. It gets 4 stars for being relatively flat and for the earthquake loop.

Entered from the Hidden Villa side. Walked the "Creek Trail." Continued onto the Black Mountain Trail. A little bit of incline but basically a mellow hike along a charming creek with a tree lined trail. About 1.5 hours.

Nice hike through oak woodlands and meadows. A little climb from the moody road side brings you into the meadows. A trail continues up black mountain, and you can also access rancho San Antonio

This is a nice trail with good views to the east and a good hike down to the end of Alpine Rd. Plus, dogs are allowed on leash. Winter/spring is a good time to hike Coal Creek but can be a bit muddy.
