Pretty awesome trail, I would rate this trail moderate just because it’s kinda rocky ... make sure you have boots with ankle support because trail shoes won’t cut it!! The falls were dry but that’s ok because it’s beautiful either way no need to find beauty in the expectation of one thing :) awesome all around with great views!!

An interesting part of Yosemite NP that I never knew existed before a friend mentioned it to us. It's not as spectacular as the Yosemite valley but what it lacks in that department, it makes up in being much quieter and just unassumingly pretty. Definitely a good place to visit to get some rest from the crowds in the valley.
The hike itself is short but can get tiring if it is hot - it certainly was mid-June when we visited. I guess the moderate rating is quite appropriate. The waterfalls are pretty and the views of the lake are simply beautiful.

Hiked in here with a few guys, all in our mid 40s and of various fitness levels. It's a relatively easy hike but a bit long with some elevation change. Best to pace yourself. There are a few campsites to chose from, all with good access to water. There was a fair amount of fuel at the time for healthy campfires. Not the most scenic place once you arrive but a nice quiet place to camp.

Pretty easy hike. Went September 8 and it was 90 degrees. Most of the hike is in the open so it gets pretty hot. Unfortunately the falls are dry this time of the year so that is why I only gave it two stars. I will come back in the spring to hike again and I expect to change the rating. The lake is an amazing color and beautiful to look at though. And who doesn’t like a dam?

I got an early start on Labor Day weekend. Since this is a less visited part of the park, I had no trouble at the gate or with parking and I had the trail mostly to myself til halfway through my way back in the afternoon. Very peaceful.

The views of the lake and cliffs are amazing. There are several waterfalls but this late in the year I didn’t expect much of a flow, so I wasn’t disappointed.

The trail itself is moderately strenuous. It is well groomed and free of loose stones for the most part. The steeper grades have steps and the areas that would get wet from the waterfalls earlier in the year are cobbled for better footing. A lot of the trail is exposed and hot, the wooded areas are a great relief but in the morning the mosquitoes were thick! I highly recommend sun block and bug spray.

Though the trail is moderately strenuous, the return trip was difficult. I was tired from the hike out, the sun got hotter, and it seemed like there were just as many inclines as there were descents. Meaning, there was a lot of uphill climbing on the way back.

The trail is dusty from all the crushed granite and I went through more water than I thought I would. Halfway through my return I nearly ran out of water and had to ration. Bring more water than you think you’ll need.

Overall, an excellent experience! Check out my pics.

The day before we hiked Cloud's Rest and the air was a bit hazy from the Ansel Adams Wilderness fire, nothing like the current Furgeson fire, but since we were staying at Rush Creek Lodge, Wapama Falls seemed convenient and easy. The elevation gain is much more than you think when you are at the dam, about 1,000 feet. We hiked in late afternoon and the sun had left the falls area, so recommend you start in early afternoon to get the best pictures, Still this was an awesome hike around the reservoir, and the falls were still impressive, even after much less snowfall this year in the Sierras. Some words of caution, poison oak is prevalent along this trail, so be mindful along the sides of trail. Also some folks had climbed up the waterfall and in their glee lost their cellphone in the falls. Finally, rattlesnakes are in the area. Loved the waterfall area and multiple bridges. Highly recommend this hike and you get away from the crowds of the valley.

Rancheria Falls was our destination from the dam. It was a beautiful trail had we not had extreme heat. We found various mileage resources that differed. Fitbit tracked this as 15 miles. It took much longer than anticipated but the falls were beautiful. Disappointed that there were no points of entry to water at any of the fall areas as it was needed in the heat. Mark this as a long difficult trail in summer.

A lovely hike to view spectacular falls that rival Yosemite Falls! Lots of wildflowers and butterflies!

Great rugged easy to intermediate river trail. Easy to find your own private beach by the water. Also great for wildflowers, birding, camping, backpacking, and bouldering.

it was awesome great views not to hot. saw a bob cat my 6 year old and 4 year old loved it.

Great trail. Lots of poison oak but the view from the falls was spectacular. Get there early to beat the crowds.......

Hiked June 9, 2018. Got a late start for a variety of reasons so didn't get to the trailhead until 11am, just before a respectable crowd of day hikers. The backpacker and day parking areas were both quite full. The hike was made magical by a large influx of butterflies swooping among the many different wildflowers on the trail. Wapama Falls is still soaking the bridges (though not running over in a dangerous way) so yes you will get refreshingly wet - but this is really the most intimate encounter I had with a waterfall at Yosemite and definitely a more fun hike than I had assumed from the lukewarm write-ups. The butterflies made it a magical day to end our Yosemite trip

Really pretty. Dozens of butterflies hanging out on the trail

Great trail but be aware of bears and rattlesnakes we saw both and we had two kids with us. It was a long hike for them and really hot...not crowded and one of the most beautifully hikes I’ve done. I would say this was moderate, it certainly wasn’t easy and I think the weather makes it feel a lot tougher. My kids made it but barely and we hike a lot. Be prepared and have lots of water with you. It’s a long hike.

Did this as an out and back long day hike. Great falls and views along the way. On warm/hot days be prepared for many exposed areas and bring lots of water. Completely worth the effort.

First hike...amazing views ...well worth the trip

Great moderate/easy hike with an incredible waterfall at the end. Worth it!

Full flowing waterfalls with bridges at the base at the time of writing this. 5/19/18. Get soaked running across bridges but so refreshing during a hike. Best hike to date for me.

Gate opens at 7, closes at 9pm. All trails just opened. Falls amazing!! This is a tough, rewarding hike. Be in good shape.

Amazing first backpacking trip. From the backpackers parking lot to camp we logged about 7mi, so round trip including waterfall exploring was about 15mi. If the falls are raging, as they were on May 5th, you might lose some bug repellant crossing Wampama and mosquitos seemed to be the worst in the mile or two following. Despite other descriptions I've seen, there is no signage indicating the falls or camp is coming up. Rocks create a fork toward the sites after the first cascade you see. There were about 10-12 spots with fire pits. The highest site is closest to the first cascade and would be ideal to watch the sunset.

Great Hike. Completed this weekend. Amazing views of waterfalls and cascades. A few good spots to relax, grab a bite and enjoy the view.

5/5/18 Beautiful trail, nicely graded. Would be HOT later in the summer.

This is probably the best hike I’ve ever been on. Trail quality is top notch and the views are spectacular. The elevation gain feels steady. Depending on when you go, and how much water there is, you might get wet near Wapama Falls. Absolutely stunning hike.
